Erasing Alpha’s Memories and Love Chapter 01

Erasing Alpha’s Memories and Love Chapter 01 (Continue)

I was the world’s top hypnotist.

I could erase memories under hypnosis.

But ever since my heart transplant, I rarely drained myself hypnotizing anyone—until an unexpected pregnancy changed that.

I hypnotized my Alpha boyfriend, Nathan, and, with a mix of hope and fear, asked the question that had haunted me for three years, “We’ve been together so long, but why have you never proposed a mate bond?”

In a purely instinctive state, a look of disgust I’d never seen before flashed in Nathan’s eyes. “If it weren’t for Paige’s heart in your body, I wouldn’t give you a second glance. A mate bond? Dream on.”

The heart that wasn’t originally mine throbbed painfully.

I took another hypnosis assignment and, three days later, flew to Paris.

When Nathan learned the truth, he completely fell apart.

The phone rang, breaking the hypnosis session.

Nathan came back to his senses and asked, “What just happened?”

I forced myself to stay calm and said, “Nothing happened. You must be exhausted, just a little dazed.”

I had never told Nathan I was the world’s top hypnotist. Right now, he was easy to fool. He murmured, “Maybe…”

Nathan answered the call.

Because we were close, I had no choice but to overhear the delicate voice on the line.

“Alpha, I have my period and my stomach hurts. Can you come keep me company?”

The voice belonged to Kate Tuner, the twin sister of the late Paige Tuner.

Nathan glanced at me, clearly conflicted.

Kate spoke again. “The day after tomorrow is my sister’s death anniversary. I miss her so much. If she were here, she’d take care of me properly.”

Sobs came through the phone.

Without hesitation, Nathan said, “Alright, I’ll be there soon.”

I sneered and asked him, “Do you even know what day it is today?”

Nathan looked guilty, remembering his promise. He reached out to hug me. “Scarlet… I’m sorry. I can’t spend your birthday with you. Paige had a car accident saving me, and I have to take care of her only sister.”

I dodged his hand, clutching my stomach, the pain fueled by anger.

“Nathan, Kate has friends. Why does it have to be you?”

“Because I’m a doctor. I know how to take care of people.”

Hearing him justify it like that made the pain worse. I clutched my stomach harder, trying to ease it.

Then Nathan added mockingly, “Scarlet, don’t pretend. It’s not your period today, so stop acting like your stomach hurts like Kate’s.”

I forced a self-deprecating smile.

So he thought I was faking.

Tears fell—and so would the baby.

Nathan reached out to wipe my tears, his voice already edged with impatience. “Scarlet, I’ll be back in a minute. Why are you being so unreasonable today?”

After three years, I had lost count of how many times Nathan had broken promises to me.

Every vow to me paled in comparison to a single word from his dead first love’s little sister.

And in the end, I was the one being unreasonable.

I couldn’t help asking, “If you care so much about Kate, why not be with her? Date her, live with her—it would be easier to take care of her.”

Nathan’s face darkened instantly. “Scarlet Wren, what are you talking about? I treat Kate like a sister. Only a sister.”

I pressed on, “Then… do you love me?”

Nathan avoided my eyes. He moved closer, leaning against my chest.

Right where Paige’s heart beat.

After a moment, Nathan spoke. “I love you.”

I felt nothing.

I gently pushed him away. “Go. Don’t make Kate wait.”

Nathan obeyed.

Watching his anxious back, I picked up my phone and scheduled a termination procedure, then headed downstairs and drove to the hospital.
