You Kept Me Waiting While Loving Her 1 Chapter 07
“Alaial I never thought you’d play such a trick! You left your diary at home on purpose for him to read, didn’t
you? Now he won’t even answer my calls!
Reese spoke in a shrill voice, nothing like her usual calm and composed self over the past year. “You already said yes to his proposal. What more do you want? Now he’s blaming everything on me!”
It suddenly dawned on me that I did keep a diary about Wyatt.
I’d started writing in it after graduation, when I first agreed to be with him. But as the relationship fell apart, all that was left in those pages were the ugly parts of us.
“You know perfectly well whose fault it really is. Our relationship ended not just because he was indecisive,
but also thanks to all your sly and hypocritical remarks.”
“Don’t ever call me again over your messy affairs. I’ve made it clear-I don’t want him anymore.”
Reese seemed stunned by my response. Her voice grew more urgent. “You really don’t want to be Mrs.
Blackwell? He promised to put money into my family’s business. Now he won’t even see me. You have to
come back and straighten this out!”
I couldn’t be bothered to argue with her anymore. I just blocked her number.
Finally. Peace and quiet again.
When I got home, my mother was fumbling around the kitchen, trying to make me pasta.
“Mom, I told you to wait for me to cook.”
She looked a little embarrassed and reached out to pat my head. “I just wanted to do something for you. I
feel like I’ve let you down all these years. After your father died in the line of duty, I cried until I couldn’t see.
You’ve been holding this family together by yourself.”
“When we were at the hospital today, that doctor told me your boss asked you out before, didn’t he? If you
don’t like him, don’t say yes because of me. Do what feels right for you.”
I patted her hand gently. “Don’t worry. Right now, the only person I love is myself.”
Before going to bed, my junior forwarded me a post.
The title was: [I Was Wrong. I Overlooked the Girl I Loved Most.]
The username belonged unmistakably to Wyatt.
Almost without thinking, I tapped to open it.
Ten posts in total. Every single one included an entry from my journal.
First entry: [I saw you take her to Disneyland. You’d promised to take me there too, yet after such a long time,
all you gave me to make up for it was just a Mickey lollipop.]
Second entry: [You stood me up again. Left me at that abandoned lot on the edge of town. I waited in the rain forever. I couldn’t even get a taxi.]
All the way to the last entry: [I finally understand: there’s no room for a third person in love. Wyatt, I’m done waiting for your belated amends.]
Wyatt filled every single post with words of remorse.
But I didn’t want to read them. I’d already decided to let him go.
The moment I reached for the back button, his message popped up on my screen.
