My Heart Keeps Him Alive 1 Chapter 08

After security sealed all exits from Blackwood Institute, Harrison finally showed panic.

“Nathaniel, what is the meaning of this?”

Nathaniel leaned back in his chair. His face was still pale, but his fingers moved steadily as he pulled up the

first surveillance video.

On screen, Margot ripped the biosensor patches off Ivy’s chest and pushed her onto a treadmill.

The right side of the screen displayed Nathaniel’s artificial heart data in real time.

The first time Ivy’s heart rate spiraled out of control, his artificial heart sent out its first alert.

Nathaniel’s voice was calm. “First count.”

Margot’s lips pressed together, her face pale.

The second video started.

Margot ordered the disconnection of the top floor backup server.

On the right side of the screen, Nathaniel collapsed in a European conference room.

“Second count.”

The third video played. Margot personally injected the stimulant into Ivy’s vein.

On the right side of the screen, the private jet’s medical bay lit up with alarms. Doctors performed emergency

resuscitation.

“Third count.”

The fourth video showed the atrium hearing. Ivy was pinned to a surgical chair.

The scalpel cut below her collarbone, forceps clamped onto the sync chip, and blood soaked through her

hospital gown.

On the right side of the screen, Nathaniel’s artificial heart went straight into shutdown warning.

Someone in the room gasped.

Margot couldn’t stand anymore. She held onto the edge of the table, swaying.

Nathaniel looked at her. “Still going to call it coincidence?”

Margot’s lips trembled, but no words came out.

Guards brought Chloe in.

Her eyes were red and swollen, but she stood up straight.

“I’ll testify On Ms Sheffield’s first day at the institute, she made me hand over Ivy’s medical records She also

had someone plant fake kickback agreements in Ivy’s safe.”

Margot screamed. “You’re lying!”

The next second, two guards brought in her own assistant.

The assistant went pale and slumped forward.

“I’ll talk. Ms. Sheffield told me to contact the device supplier and fabricate evidence that Ivy received

kickbacks. Mr. Sheffield knew about it too.”

Harrison slammed the table. “Outrageous!”

The assistant flinched but kept going. “Sheffield Medical Group had long wanted to take over the Blackwood

Institute project.”

“If Mr. Croftfield’s health collapsed and the board fell into chaos, the Sheffield family could enter Croftfield’s

core medical system through the marriage and partnership.”

“The artificial heart patent would have ended up in Sheffield’s hands as well.”

The room erupted in murmurs.

Harrison’s face turned crimson. “Lies! All lies!”

Nathaniel pulled up another file.

“Sheffield Medical Group: thirteen counts of falsified clinical data, twenty-seven counts of embezzled

medical insurance funds, and smuggling experimental devices through offshore shell companies.”

He looked at Harrison. “Do you want me to read them one by one?”

Harrison went completely still.

Nathaniel raised his eyes. “I handed all this evidence to financial police before I left for Europe to acquire

that lab.”

Harrison’s eyes narrowed. “You’ve been investigating me this whole time?”

Nathaniel’s smile was faint. “Your family’s record is too dirty. I was going to let you exit gracefully”

His gaze shifted to Margot. “But you had to touch her.”

The conference room doors opened.

Financial police and regulatory agents walked in together.

When the cuffs went on Harrison, he seemed to age ten years in an instant.

Margot finally broke. She lunged toward Nathaniel.

“Nathaniel! I’m your fiancée! You can’t do this to me!”

Nathaniel didn’t even look at her. “The engagement was never valid.”

Margot’s face went completely pale.

Nathaniel’s voice was calm, but every word cut like a blade.

“The cut you made on Ivy’s collarbone? That’s attempted murder.”

As they dragged Margot away, her screams echoed down the hallway.

And I was still lying in the top floor monitoring room, sleeping quietly.

Nathaniel pushed himself up and walked to my bed.

He dimmed the lights and pulled the blanket up around me.

A storm was tearing through the building.

But here, in this room, there had to be silence.
