The Hollow Luna Who Got Betrayed Chapter 07

I felt too drained to waste any more breath arguing with her.

No matter what, I would rather crush this heart myself than give it to her. My wolf might have been weak, but it still had one last shred of dignity.

For days, the scandal of Lucas secretly transplanting his mate’s womb into the woman he could never let go

continued to dominate werewolf feeds.

Every now and then, I heard the Omega nurses whispering outside my door. They said that wherever Lucas

went now, people pointed at his back and called him a monster in human skin. Some even threw eggs and

rotten produce at him. In pack society, an Alpha stripped of his mark was the lowest of the low.

In other words, he had been utterly ruined. No wonder he had nothing better to do than sit by my bed every

day.

Over the past few days, my condition had deteriorated rapidly, and I slipped into a coma-like state. My mind remained awake, but I could not open my eyes no matter how hard I tried, and I could not drive him away. My Omega wolf no longer moved at all. It was like a cold stone inside me.

Noah came to the pack hospital with two pack law enforcement officers to take my statement, but I could no

longer give any meaningful response.

Looking at me lying lifeless in the hospital bed, Noah shouted angrily, “Lucas, what did you do to her? Do you have even a shred of humanity left? If you kill her, no one will be able to expose you anymore. Is that it?”

Lucas’s expression was calm, and his voice was deep./’She is my Luna. No one wants her to live more than I do. My wolf is gone, and so is hers. We’re even.”

Noah gritted his teeth. “Lucas, it’s a real shame you never became an actor.”

The Pack Council sent pack warriors for routine questioning. Julia and Audrey, standing off to the side, insisted that all of my organ donations had been voluntary and that I had simply regretted it afterward, which was why I had caused all this trouble.

Because they lacked my key testimony, the pack warriors could not arrest anyone immediately. They could

only return and continue gathering evidence.

Noah wanted to take me away, but Lucas claimed that as my mate, he was my primary legal guardian. Even though his Alpha title had been stripped from him, the legally recognized mate bond still existed. He had

Noah driven out.

Trapped beside Lucas, I felt there was nothing left worth living for. I did not want to wake up at all.

Unconsciousness became the only effective way I had to fight Lucas’s imprisonment.

His face grew more ashen and tense by the day. All he could do was unleash useless rage at the healer and ask again and again when they could perform my transplant surgery.

“We need to wait until some of the patient’s key indicators improve. Surgery right now would be extremely

risky. She might not survive the operating table. Her wolf is nearly gone, and surgery will only speed up her

death.”

Lucas flew into a rage again and forbade anyone from mentioning any unlucky word related to death.

As if not saying it out loud would keep me alive.

Julia listened from the side with obvious delight.

“Then keep her alive for a few more days. If her indicators are poor, it would be bad if they compromised my surgery. Lucas, you don’t have to worry. I’ll make it off the operating table safe and sound. Her womb is already inside me, so the compatibility is very high.”

The healer who had once operated on me looked at Julia, then at me lying in the hospital bed. He seemed to want to say something, but in the end, he said nothing.

Maybe he pitied me because I was about to be hollowed out completely.

A week later, I was wheeled into the operating room. One injection of anesthetic, and everything went black.

When I finally regained a faint trace of awareness, my hand felt numb. But hadn’t I already died after they cut out my heart? How could I still feel anything?

I opened my eyes in a daze and found Lucas sitting beside my bed, asleep with my hand gripped tightly in his. There was no trace of Alpha scent left on him anymore. The erasure of his mark was permanent.

I moved slightly, and Lucas woke at once. He looked at me, his eyes gradually reddening. “You’re finally

awake. Thank you. Thank you for waking up.”

I closed my eyes. I did not want to look at him.

“Claire, are you angry that Julia and I lied to avoid the Pack Council’s punishment? The reason I kept her around was so she could give back everything you were made to give her back then.”

“As for me, it isn’t that I refuse to pay for my crimes. I just…”

He lowered his head, and hot tears splashed onto the back of my hand.

“I just wanted to take care of you here first. Once you recover, I’ll turn myself in.”

I sneered inwardly. Shameless people always found excuses to absolve themselves.

“Lucas, what do you mean by that?” Julia suddenly appeared in the doorway like a vengeful ghost.

Her face was deathly pale, her hair had thinned, and she was so gaunt she looked like a skeleton. Her body was rejecting my womb. That was a wolf’s instinct. An organ that did not belong to her would eventually turn against her.

“What do you mean, have me give back everything she once donated to me?”
