The Billionaire Groom Replaced Me With His Tomboy After I Was Paralyzed Chapter 05
Roxy’s leg swept out anyway. It tore through the air with a vicious, whistling gust, driving with lethal, heat-seeking precision straight for my left temple.
The exact same angle as my past life.
But I wasn’t the Sienna who couldn’t even tighten her grip on her gloves anymore. The split second her hip tucked to commit to the arc, I executed a flawless, blindingly fast slip. Her shin grazed dead air, and before she could snap her leg back, my right fist ripped upward from the hip-a textbook, explosive uppercut cracking directly into her jaw.
The brutal, bone-on-bone impact echoed through the PA system, detonating across the entire
ballroom.
Roxy’s head whipped back with sickening force, her mouthguard flying out in a clean arc trailing a spray of crimson blood. The light vanished from her eyes instantly as her consciousness shut down Her legs buckled like string, and she went down hard, dropping perfectly flat against the blue grappling mat with a dull, heavy thud.
Sprawled out cold, she didn’t twitch.
The entire room fell into a dead, suffocating silence. Over three hundred elite guests stood frozen, their phones raised halfway in the air like statues. No one applauded. No one cheered. It was as if a collective hand had clamped around the throat of the entire crowd, choking out their very breath.
Below the stage, the smug smirk on Garrett’s face disintegrated, freezing into an expression that looked like a piece of paper crumpled up and violently forced flat again. His jaw worked soundlessly before a choked whisper finally scraped out of his throat.
“How… how did you…”
I stood dead center in the octagon. A few stray droplets of Roxy’s blood had caught the hem of my white gown, blossoming into dark, ominous roses across the pristine silk. I looked down at her unconscious body, her eyes rolled back into her head, and casually loosened my wrists.
Then, picking up the microphone, I faced the sea of three hundred dumbfounded expressions.
“Ladies and gentlemen, my apologies. The groom mentioned this was a little tradition from back home in Rustwood to bring the family good luck. Consider us thoroughly blessed.”
The silence remained absolute. Garrett’s legs seemed to be filled with lead; he couldn’t even summon the courage to step onto the stage. Behind him, his groomsmen exchanged frantic, panicked glances, quietly lowering the phones they’d prepared to film a comedy bit.
Suddenly, Garrett’s mother bolted from the VIP table, screaming like a banshee as she rushed the cage.
“Are you insane?! Look what you did to Roxy! You psycho!”
Before she could finish her tirade, the venue’s massive theater projection screen flared to life. The ambient room lights dimmed automatically, and four massive, high-definition words locked onto the screen.
