He Marked Me, Then Forced Me to Bow to His Mistress Chapter 02

I never went to Baymoon Island.

After dismissing Mark, I returned alone to the castle within the Midnight Pack’s territory.

Before I even reached the master bedroom, Grayson’s familiar cedar scent hit my nose, tangled with a cloying sweetness that wasn’t mine.

Then a man’s heavy breathing came through the door.

“Your parents sure knew how to name you, Daisy. You live up to it, all right.”

“Ever since I got with you, I’ve barely laid a hand on that shrew. Told her I’d lost all interest in sex.”

“Only time I did was when I needed to get that estate signed over to you-had to force myself through it.”

“She thinks she’s the pitiful one? I already gave her the Luna Queen title.”

“You’re the one who deserves to be spoiled.”

“You’re always so eager to please. What do you want next, my entire life?”

I stood frozen in place.

The rage of my wolf surged through me, clawing to break free and tear that door apart.

Six months ago, Grayson had handed me a diagnosis from the most renowned healer in the werewolf realm.

His face had been full of guilt.

“Darling, our married life might not be very fulfilling from now on. Please don’t look down on me, okay?”

My heart had broken for him.

I had done everything I could to please him.

I had even prayed for blessings from The Moon Goddess.

Then, two months ago, he came home drunk and spent the night with me.

I’d thought my devotion had finally moved the heavens.

Now I realized the truth.

It had been nothing but a reluctant favor-a transaction to transfer property to his mistress.

And the pup growing inside me had been conceived that night.

I fixed my eyes on the heavy wooden door and swallowed the rage building inside me.

Then I turned and walked downstairs.

An hour later, Grayson came down the staircase with a stunningly beautiful she-wolf wrapped in his arms.

The moment Daisy saw me sitting in the living room, her eyes immediately reddened.

“Luna queen, this is all my fault.”

Her voice trembled as tears gathered in her eyes.

“This is your home with the Alpha King. I never should’ve come. It’s just… I fell in love with this place.”

“I thought you’d be gone on your trip-I never thought we’d run into each other. I didn’t expect…”

Suddenly, tears spilled down her cheeks.

“Please don’t blame the Alpha King-and please don’t send me away.”

“I truly love him. I’m not trying to come between you. I just want to be a part of your lives.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she started to kneel.

Grayson’s expression changed instantly.

He pulled her into his arms and began comforting her.

“Didn’t I tell you not to hurt yourself like this? Why won’t you listen? It hurts me to see you like this.”

He pulled her closer and let out a long, doting sigh. “You’re just too kind. You’ll never change.”

“Guess that means I’ll just have to protect you that much more.”

Then he looked at me. His gaze was laced with impatience and reproach.

“Layla, look what you’ve done. You scared her.”

“I should’ve known you wouldn’t leave quietly.”

“So, are you happy now? Made enough of a scene?”

The accusation was so absurd that I almost couldn’t process it.

My wolf roared inside me.

The castle belongs to the Alpha King and Luna Queen!

We haven’t even said a word, and he’s already blaming us for that bitch!

In his eyes, even our breathing is a crime!

A mocking smile tugged at my lips.

Something flickered in Grayson’s eyes.

He let go of Daisy and walked toward me, his voice softening-just a little.

“All right, enough.”

“You’re both precious to me.”

He smiled as though he were offering a generous compromise.

“From now on, the three of us can live together in the castle.”

“This afternoon there’s a banquet in the werewolf realm. Come with me.”

I was about to refuse when he cut me off.

“Daisy’s coming too. It’s her first time at one of these things.”

“Why don’t you help her with her train-give her a little support, you know?”

It was so ridiculous I nearly laughed out loud.

But with so little time left, I couldn’t even summon the energy to fight.

Before the banquet, Daisy claimed she didn’t have an appropriate gown.

She walked right into my closet and picked out the custom gown I’d worn the day Grayson was officially

crowned Alpha King.

It had been my first public appearance as Luna Queen.

She even took the matching diamond necklace.

Arm linked with Grayson’s, Daisy became the center of attention the moment they entered the ballroom.

And I followed behind, carrying the heavy train of her gown.

The whispers around us drifted clearly into my ears.

“The Alpha King sure knows how to keep his women in check. His mate’s holding his mistress’s train and doesn’t dare make a peep.”

“They call her Luna Queen, but she’s nothing more than an omega servant. Even a rogue gets more respect.”

“Layla’s got to be the biggest fool around.”

“Over twenty years with him and she’s got nothing to show for it. She’d be better off dead.”

I turned and fled the ballroom. All I wanted was to hide in the bathroom.

But before I could make it there, a slap cracked across my face.
