He Took Her To Bali While I Buried My Parents Alone Chapter 03

My breath stopped. My blood ran cold.

Dead?

So I die ten years from now?

I held myself together and asked how I died.

Landon didn’t seem to want to hide it. He answered calmly.

[Because she was stubborn.]

[After I forced her to call off the engagement, her grandmother still died.]

[But that was just an accident. That day, she went to visit her grandmother and accidentally let something slip about us.]

[Her grandmother’s emotions got too intense. They couldn’t save her.]

My whole body went cold. I bit my lip so hard I wouldn’t sob out loud.

I knew “she” meant Tessa.

And my grandmother was the only family I had left in this world.

[But she didn’t mean it. She just wanted to invite her grandmother to our engagement party.)

[You believe whatever she says?!]

I couldn’t help it. I asked him back, in pain.

But Landon didn’t seem angry at all. He kept typing.

[Of course. I know her. She’s straightforward, no games.]

[Not like the other one.]

I let my hands drop.

Yeah. Tessa is direct, open, loves hard and hates hard.

And me? I’m the rat in the gutter, full of schemes.

[What happened next?] I asked, tears burning.

[Next, she lost her mind. She wanted to go after the person I loved.]

[I lost control. Slapped her. She lost her balance, fell, and had a miscarriage.]

[I didn’t even know we had a kid together.]

His words were short but cut like a knife right into my heart.

“I felt some regret. I wanted to take care of her. But after she woke up, she wasn’t right in the head.”

[So I put her in a psychiatric hospital.]

[But then, last week, she had an episode and killed herself there.]

The screen went dark.

And I was already crying so hard I couldn’t see.

So that was my ending.

My heart hurt so much I could barely breathe. Cold sweat drenched me. My hands trembled uncontrollably, and I kept dry-heaving.

Finally, I ran straight out the door to the nursing home.

Grandma was sitting by the window, soaking up the sun. Her eyes crinkled when she saw me. She started to say something, but I cut her off.

“Grandma, I want to study abroad. Will you come with me?”

I will never leave her here again.

Grandma was confused but nodded anyway.

“Of course.”

“Wherever Elise goes, Grandma follows.” She stroked my hair. “What about Landon? You two “He’s nothing to me anymore.”

I said firmly.

“Grandma, you have to remember. I don’t like him. And I will never marry.

Grandma looked puzzled, but in the end, she agreed.

A weight lifted off my chest. I breathed easier, chatted with her a while, then left.

But I didn’t expect someone standing outside the door.

Actually, two someones.

Landon stared at me with a heavy face. My heart tightened. I didn’t know how much he’d heard. Then Tessa piped up.

“Elise, did this jerk do something to you? Is that why you said you don’t like him?”

“Hold on, I’ll teach him a lesson!”

She raised her hand to hit Landon, but he grabbed her wrist.

healed?”

A tiny Band-Aid wrapped around Tessa’s finger.

“Careful with your hand. Is it

I looked down at my own hand, still wrapped in thick gauze a week later, still seeping blood.

Landon followed my gaze, a flash of embarrassment crossing his face. He cleared his throat.

“Let’s talk at home. Your hand also-”

“No.”

I looked up and gave a smile.

“You heard exactly right.”

“Landon, let’s keep our distance from now on.”
