I Saw The Comments Calling Me Evil And Realized I Was Pregnant Chapter 09
When I was eight months pregnant, Lilith’s trial concluded.
She was found guilty of multiple charges, including intentional assault, false imprisonment, and fraud, and was sentenced to twelve years in prison.
I attended the sentencing that day.
When she saw me, her expression was a tangled knot of emotions.
As the bailiffs led her away, she suddenly spun around and screamed at me, “Khloe, you’d better keep working this hard forever. Otherwise, you’ll get dumped sooner or later, just like me!”
I remained silent.
Nash wrapped his arm securely around my shoulders and said to Lilith, “She won’t. Because she is nothing like you.”
Walking out of the courthouse, I asked him, “How are we different?”
He gave it some thought, “She wanted control. You want growth.”
I smiled.
Back home, I pushed forward with my studies.
However, my body grew heavier by the day, and moving around became an absolute chore.
Nash hired specialized nannies to care for me, and he purchased all kinds of prenatal music and parenting books.
One evening, I was resting my head on his lap while he read a parenting guide to me.
As he read, a sudden throb hit my abdomen.
“He kicked! The baby kicked!” I grabbed his hand.
Nash pressed his palm against my stomach, freezing for a few seconds before his eyes rimmed with red.
“He’s kicking me.”
“Does it hurt?”
“Not at all,” my voice sounded a bit thick, “It’s just… incredible. There’s a tiny life in here, and you gave him to me.”
The two of us held each other and cried, laughing and sobbing all at once.
The comments were also touched:
[The family of three is so happy.]
[This is a real happy ending!]
[Wait, she hasn’t given birth yet, don’t celebrate too early.]
A week before my due date, Nash completely cleared his schedule to stay home with me every single day.
When I told him he didn’t need to go that far, he countered, “You are ten thousand times more important than work.”
In the middle of the night on that fateful week, a sharp pain jarred me awake.
My water broke.
“Nash! Nash! It’s time! The baby’s coming!”
He bolted out of bed, looking far more panicked than I was, “What do we do? Call 911! No, wait, grab the hospital bag first! No, wait…”
Suppressing the pain, I screamed, “Calm down first!”
He took a deep breath, dialed for an ambulance, and immediately phoned the butler to get the hospital ready.
The entire way there, he held my hand, his palm completely slick with sweat.
Once we arrived at the hospital, I was wheeled straight into the delivery room.
Nash tried to follow me inside, but the nurse blocked him.
He grew frantic, “I’m her husband! I have to go in!”
The nurse looked to me for confirmation, and I nodded.
He rushed inside, instantly taking hold of my hand. “Don’t be scared. I’m right here.”
The pain was absolutely agonizing, and my fingernails dug deep into the back of his hand.
He didn’t make a single sound.
The comments rolled by:
[The ML’s hand is going to be ruined.]
[But this is seriously so moving.]
[You can do it, Khloe!]
After six grueling hours of labor, the baby was finally born.
It was a boy.
His cry was incredibly loud and piercing.
The nurse brought the baby over for me to see, and I took a single glance at him-he looked like a wrinkly little monkey.
“He’s so ugly,” I whispered weakly.
Nash let out a soft laugh, “He’s not ugly. He looks just like you.”
“Like me?” I glared at him, “Who are you calling ugly?”
He leaned down to kiss my forehead, “Looking like you means he’ll be the most beautiful thing in the world.”
[So sweet!]
[She gave birth! She finally gave birth!]
[Congratulations!]
