Plato?No Thanks Chapter 04
Oh crap, oh crap.
He definitely knows I was lying about my stomach now.
The more I thought about it, the more I felt like there was no way forward. I pouted.
“You come up.”
The second the words left my mouth, Liam started walking.
He was by my side in no time.
Even from the second floor, you could tell how noisy it was down there. Especially on the balcony.
Liam frowned slightly and handed me what he was carrying.
Besides painkillers, there was dessert and milk tea.
“How did you know I was here?”
Liam’s presence was too strong. I couldn’t help taking a step back.
“Noah invited me to hang out.”
“…”
Oh my god.
Were those two trying to invite everyone they knew?!
“Don’t be mad anymore. I know I screwed up.”
“Sorry, I—”
We both started at the same time.
Huh?
I blinked in surprise.
He’s apologizing?
But what for?
“Really, I’m not mad.”
Liam’s expression was cold, but he stepped closer to me.
“You’re not mad about this morning? Then are you mad because I said no the other day when you asked me to come keep you company?”
“…”
Man, he makes me sound so innocent.
The actual text was: “Honey, I don’t feel good. Can you come sleep with me?”
I took another step back and quickly explained: “No, really, I’m not mad. I’m not mad about anything.”
“Then…”
I took a deep breath and cut him off. “Mr. Mitchell, I won’t get mad. And I won’t bring up any of those boundary-crossing things anymore. I’m sorry for being so rude before…”
“… Liam’s gaze froze. The light here was dim, and with his back to it, I couldn’t read his expression.”
I took the stuff from Liam’s hands, gave a slight bow, and said politely.
“Thank you, Mr. Mitchell. They’re waiting for me. I’ll go now.”
Ugh, being good hurts so bad.
I wanna kiss him. I wanna hug him.
Liam never did come inside.
When the night wound down and people trickled out, I was sitting on the couch, pulling out my phone to call a ride.
The door suddenly knocked once.
I looked up. Liam stood in the doorway.
“I’ll drive you.”
I started to refuse, but Liam was already walking out.
I had no choice but to follow.
In the car, I pretended to gaze out the window.
But my eyes kept sneaking glances at him.
He was wearing a tight black shirt. His muscular chest was practically begging the buttons to pop off.
It made my nose feel hot.
I touched my tingly nose out of reflex.
Wasn’t he wearing something different earlier?
Stop tempting me!
I don’t have that much self-control, okay?
The whole ride, I was squirming in my seat, desperate to get out.
The second the car stopped at my building, I unbuckled, opened the door, and closed it—all in one motion.
I barely had time to say goodbye before I bolted inside.
Liam’s hands tightened on the steering wheel, veins faintly bulging.
Once I got home and washed up, I decided to watch some murder cases to calm down.
“As any regular killer knows…”
I passed out in minutes.
When I woke up again, the video had autoplayed to some kids’ show.
The next morning, Sophie asked me to go shopping.
I was totally out of it the whole time.
“Avi, you’re gorgeous. Why waste your time on a block of ice like him?
Someone like you, who turns every conversation dirty—even if you got together, you’d die of frustration.”
“Besides, Liam’s hard to chase. The guy’s practically celibate. If he were a girl, he’d join a convent.”
“…”
Thanks. So comforting.
I was looking around when my gaze got hijacked by two people.
Liam. And some strange woman.
She was wearing a simple pale pink dress, her soft long hair loosely pinned up. Standing across from Liam, she was smiling sweetly.
She looked exactly like I used to when I flirted with him.
“…”, I clenched my jaw. My chest felt tight.
