He Said I Was Cruel To Her But His Mind Cried For My Attention Chapter 04

Seeing him, I wrapped my arms tighter around myself.

He knew Cole. Cole had put him in the hospital once for sexual harassment.

“What’s the matter? Fight with your husband? Hop in. I’ll give you a ride.”

I shook my head. “No thanks.”

“Don’t be shy. Come on, it’s warm in here.”

“Really, I’m fine.”

“Come on, come on.”

The more I refused, the closer his car got.

I was backed up against the guardrail, my heart hammering.

“I said get in!”

His hand shot out the window and grabbed my wrist.

I screamed. Wrenched myself free. Jumped over the rail and down the embankment.

But he was persistent.

I rolled down the slope. He jumped after me.

Crouched in the bushes, I clamped a hand over my mouth and didn’t dare breathe.

Then I saw my smartwatch.

Cole had programmed his number into it. For emergencies.

I pulled it up and hit call.

“Hello?”

“Cole, help me. I’m at—”

“You finally ready to admit you were wrong?”

I froze. Then gritted my teeth. “Yes. I was wrong. Come get me, please? That guy—my boss—he’s here too—”

[Thank God. I knew this would work. She finally caved.]

[She even made up some story about the creep.]

[She didn’t look good when I left. Good thing I never drove far.]

“Okay. Sierra’s here with me. Apologize to her. Get her to forgive you, and I’ll turn around right now.”

“Cole… you can’t be serious.”

“Are you going to apologize or not?”

I clenched my jaw. “I can’t. Not to her.”

“Then walk.”

[She still won’t give in. Does she really not want me to come get her that badly?]

[Fine. Push harder.]

[This is the only way to make her need me.]

[I want her to depend on me. To feel like she can’t live without me.]

[I’m sorry, babe. I’ll only do this once. I swear.]

[Just tell me you want me.]

“Tes—”

The line went dead.

Then my hair was yanked from behind.

I hit the ground. Rocks scraped my lower back.

Dale’s voice came from above me. “There you are.”

“AHHHHH—”

Headlights blasted across my face.

A Bentley stopped a few feet away.

The back door flew open. A girl with pigtails jumped out.

“Hey! Stop! What the hell are you doing?”
