He Said I Was Cruel To Her But His Mind Cried For My Attention Chapter 05
Cole got a call soon after.
But before he could say anything, the voice on the other end made him freeze.
“The police station? Why is she at the police station?”
“Is she okay?”
“Scrapes? How bad?”
“I’ll be right there.”
When Cole showed up, he was gasping for air.
I was wrapped in a blanket, clutching a cup of hot water.
[She looks like hell…]
[Where is that bastard?]
[I didn’t hit him hard enough last time. He better hope I don’t find him.]
He came up to me. I could see the red rimming his eyes.
His throat moved. All that worry—and what came out was, “You always make everything such a drama.”
I said nothing.
“Sierra’s been crying at home for hours. She heard what happened to you.”
I tightened my grip on the cup.
“Alright. I’ll be the one to apologize this time.” His hand landed on mine. “Stop making things hard for other people. And stop making things hard for yourself. After we deal with this, I’m taking you home.”
“No.” I pulled my hand back. “What home? We don’t have one.”
The door opened.
A tall, long-legged man walked in and set a cup of ginger tea in front of me. He tucked a hand warmer into my blanket.
“Warm up first. Zoey and I will take you to the hospital for a checkup after this.”
The pigtailed girl popped her head out from behind her brother. “Hey, Tessa. Who’s this?”
Cole’s eyes sharpened. “Tessa. Who are they?”
I hugged the hand warmer. “Zoey is the one who yelled at that creep when he grabbed me.”
I paused.
“And Julian’s my boyfriend. He helped hold the guy down.”
Cole’s breath stopped.
