I was seated in first class on my flight back to the States when a blanket suddenly came flying from the row in front of me and hit my leg.
A flight attendant hurried over and crouched beside me, her face full of apology.
”I’m so sorry, ma’am. Miss Hart says she likes peace and quiet and really can’t stand any noise near her.”
”She’s willing to pay an extra hundred dollars for you to move to coach. Would that be alright?”
I set down my glass, smiled faintly, then picked up the blanket and hurled it right back.
”I’ll add a hundred and one. She can move.”
The blanket smacked right into the face of the girl in front.
She shot to her feet and pointed at me furiously. ”You seriously don’t know when to quit, do you? Do you have any idea who I am?”
”My boyfriend Ethan Sterling practically owns this airline!”
”I’m telling you right now, if you don’t move, I’ll have this airline blacklist you so thoroughly you’ll never set foot on a plane again for the rest of your life.”
I raised a brow, amused.
Ethan Sterling?
Wasn’t that my childhood sweetheart—the one I was engaged to?
So this was the trashy little brat Evelyn had kept nagging me to come back and deal with.

”Are you deaf?” Chloe snapped when I didn’t move. ”I told you to go to coach. Did you not hear me?”
I smiled. ”Ma’am, I was sitting here minding my own business. You threw a blanket at me and insulted me with a hundred dollars. Why exactly should I move?”
”Besides, I offered you one more dollar. Why don’t you go?”
The flight attendant inhaled sharply. ”Ma’am, Mr. Sterling specifically instructed us to accommodate Miss Hart’s needs. If you have a compensation request, please name it. We’ll do our best to satisfy it.”
Chloe lifted her chin proudly. ”Did you hear that? I’m carrying a Sterling heir. The whole Sterling family should be waiting on me hand and foot.”
I sat back down, draped the blanket over my legs again, and put my earbuds back in.
”This is my seat. I’m not going anywhere.”
Chloe wheeled around toward the flight attendant, livid.
”Are you blind? Every other seat in first class is empty except hers. Use your brain. Obviously Ethan booked out the whole cabin for me.”
”Strip her and throw her out so she learns what happens when you sneak into first class.”
The flight attendant looked miserable. Ethan may have given instructions, but this demand was so unreasonable she didn’t even know how to respond.
I lifted my eyes and looked at Chloe with deliberate provocation.
”What? You think you’re the only one Ethan can book a ticket for?”
Her gaze froze for a second. ”W-what is that supposed to mean?”
She turned sharply to the flight attendant. ”Check her ticket. If she doesn’t belong here, call the police and have her arrested.”
The attendant quickly pulled up the system and typed in my name.
A moment later, she looked awkward. ”Miss Bennett’s seat is valid. It also shows the ticket was booked internally through the Sterling family.”
I nearly laughed.
Of course it had been. Evelyn had booked it for me long ago.
A flicker of panic appeared in Chloe’s eyes. ”Wait… are you Ethan’s new mistress?”
