Used, Betrayed, Gone Chapter 10 (Continue)
After that day, things between Preston and me became strangely awkward.
Whenever we were together, we both ended up blushing for no obvious reason.
Caspian, however, seemed completely incapable of understanding boundaries.
When he showed up outside my office building again, he was holding a bouquet of flowers. They were irises, the kind I used to love the most. From the look of them, they had clearly been grown and arranged by hand.
He stepped directly in front of me and blocked my path.
“Josie, can you really forget all the years we spent together?
“I know I was wrong. I know I messed up, I do. I grew these flowers for you myself. I’m willing to do anything you like from now on. Anything you don’t like, I won’t do again. Just give me one more chance, okay?”
People passing by slowed down and began whispering while pointing in our direction.
My eyes turned cold. “Caspian Collins, I thought I made myself very clear yesterday. I have a boyfriend now.”
His expression gradually darkened.
The smile on his lips finally disappeared.
The calm expression he had been pretending to maintain crumbled, revealing frustration he was struggling to hold back.
“Josie, stop being stubborn.
“Don’t force me to drag you away with me.”
I looked at him coldly.
I stared at him for a long time.
Then, I suddenly laughed. “Caspian, you really haven’t changed at all. You’re still the same jerk you’ve always been.”
His eyes slowly turned red.
He lowered his head and shook it bitterly.
“Josie, I’m just out of options.
“I know nothing I do now will be enough to win you back, but I can’t let you go.
“After you left, I finally realized that I can’t live without you.”
“Can’t let me go?” I mused.
Those words sounded like the biggest joke I had ever heard.
I took a step back and pulled up the video that had once exploded
across the internet.
Then, I turned the screen toward him.
The footage appeared in front of his eyes without warning.
I watched the moment his composure shattered.
“Caspian, open your eyes and take a good look at what you did to me.. Our case hasn’t been decided yet. This isn’t over.
“The Josephine you used to know died a long time ago. If Preston hadn’t saved me, I would already be at the bottom of the ocean.”
Caspian grabbed both of my arms, desperately trying to explain.
I didn’t give him the chance.
I kept speaking, every word striking a nerve in him.
“You blocked the internet on my phone. Do you remember that? If Sabrina hadn’t temporarily turned my connection back on for a few minutes just to provoke me by sending those photos of you two in bed, I never would’ve been able to contact Preston. And he never would’ve
come to rescue me.”
Caspian froze completely.
Once he realized what I meant, every trace of expression on his face twisted into grief.
“I’m sorry, Josie. It was my fault. I made a huge mistake. Please forgive me.”
I shook my head.
A mocking smile curled at the corner of my lips. “I will never forgive you.”
