A Joke, A Lifelong Regret Chapter 09
I looked at Aria’s stomach.
Flat now.
She smiled, and it had nothing warm in it. “I took care of it.”
“My parents found out. Said I was an embarrassment to the family. They cut me off.”
“Elena. Does that make you feel better?”
Damian had lost his place as the Vale heir.
Aria had been cast out of every old-family circle on the East Coast.
I’d gotten what I wanted.
The damages were in my account.
But when she asked if I felt better.
I honestly couldn’t say.
Aria looked at me.
“Elena, I’ve spent all this time thinking. What if we’d never met Damian? Maybe we’d still be friends. Maybe we’d still be like sisters.”
I shook my head.
“No.”
“If it hadn’t been Damian, it would’ve been someone else.”
“Aria Bellamy. Someone like you doesn’t deserve friends.”
“Because you don’t have a heart.”
The color drained out of her face slowly.
I kept my eyes on her. My own voice sounded strange to me.
“If I could go back and do it over, I’d rather have never met you at all.”
“You genuinely disgust me.”
Something heavy hit the ground behind me.
I didn’t turn around.
My life was in front of me now.
