Beloved Alpha Mated With My Best Friend, I Turned To Mate With His Rival Chapter 10

“The day I came home and you begged me to serve as your sole maid of honor, I recalled how we’d once joked I’d cry through your entire mating ceremony out of joy for you.” I’d imagined every happy possibility for her big day, never foreseeing I’d end up standing beside her while she married the man I’d loved for five years.

Bonnie’s sobs devolved into raw, mournful wails.

“Let’s end everything here,” I said flatly. “From now on, we’re strangers.”

I hung up and blocked her number entirely.

I woke the next morning to Barnett’s mother venting to my mom about his sudden demand to dissolve his newly sealed mating bond.

Mom listened silently with an impassive face and waited until she finished ranting before replying calmly. “Good riddance. Better he cuts ties before he hurts anyone else further.”

Barnett’s mother stared in confusion, unable to decipher her cryptic remark, yet no further explanation followed.

Not long after, Barnett spilled the entire truth to his parents.

When his mother prepared to leave our home, a crisp slap echoed outside the front door, paired with his father’s thundering roar.

“Have you lost your mind? You’ve formally bonded with Bonnie yet keep chasing this house nonstop, claiming your heart belongs to Eileen. What exactly do you take Bonnie and Eileen for?”

A vivid handprint bloomed across Barnett’s cheek. He laid out every detail of the fake courtship scheme and bowed his head. “I acknowledge my mistakes. I’ve always loved Eileen; she’s the only mate I’ve ever wanted.”

“Barnett,” I cut his confession short, “I already have a boyfriend.”

He tossed me a confident smile. “A meaningless title. Your bond with him is unmarked and unceremonial. I refuse to believe you could erase five years of shared affection so easily.”

Barnett’s mother gaped in shock. “Eileen… did you truly spend five years in a secret romance with my son?”

Barnett’s lips tugged upward, certain I’d confirm our history out loud. Instead I answered slowly and firmly.

“No.”

“Never happened at all.”

His smile froze instantly, panic flashing across his features. “What are you saying? We were together for five whole years!”

“Can you prove it?” I countered.

I’d always been the one snapping photos and saving our conversations; Barnett had never publicly acknowledged us or left a single trace of our relationship behind. I’d wiped every last piece of our shared evidence the day his wedding invitation landed on my table.

“Our photographs, our chat logs—all of it proves we were together.”

“Those are just casual snapshots from outings between friends,” I retorted coolly. “If they’ve misled you, I can delete every last one right now.”

His whole frame shuddered, despair drowning his features. “You’re cutting me off entirely just for helping Bonnie?” Even now, he remained blind to the core of his wrongdoing.

“You chose Bonnie of your own free will; honor your commitment to her. The entire pack witnessed your mating ceremony yesterday, and an immediate annulment would devastate Dewmoon Pack’s reputation.”

“I don’t love her—only you.”

My hand paused mid-door pull, and I tossed out one final piece of well-meaning advice. “This choice was yours to make.”

He was the one who gave up on our relationship first. Regretting it now is completely pointless.
