He Marked Me, Then Forced Me to Bow to His Mistress Chapter 07

The phone slipped from Grayson’s hand.

He no longer heard a word from the other end of the line.

Layla had never returned to the Wolf Citadel.

Then where had she gone?

For half a month now-nothing. Not a trace.

The image of her lying in that pool of blood in the banquet hall hit him.

His heart hammered against his ribs. A terrible possibility gripped him.

He spun around and seized Daisy by the shoulders.

“You said her miscarriage was fake.” His voice shook. “Are you sure?”

The murderous look in his eyes drained all color from Daisy’s face.

She steeled herself and nodded.

“O… of course. All of it-blood packs. That’s what it was.”

“No.” Something clicked in Grayson’s mind. His face went ashen.

He stared at her. “That dress she wore was skin-tight.”

“There wasn’t a single pocket in it. Where exactly could she have stashed blood packs?”

His legs nearly gave out beneath him.

The next second, his hand flew across Daisy’s face. The slap echoed through the room.

“You’d better pray that Layla is alive.”

When Grayson returned to the Wolf Citadel, his Beta was already waiting outside.

The man’s expression was grave.

“Alpha King, we’ve uncovered everything.” He hesitated. “What I’m about to tell you won’t be easy to hear.”

Two men were dragged forward.

Before anyone could question them, both collapsed to their knees.

“Alpha King, it wasn’t our fault!” One of them was shaking like a leaf.

“Miss Daisy sent us orders in your name.”

“She said Luna Queen was a thief.”

“She told us Luna Queen was the person you hated most.”

“She said we didn’t need to show mercy.”

“That’s why we locked her up with the most violent prisoners in the dungeon.”

The color drained from Grayson’s face.

But the truth was even crueler than he had imagined.

A guard stepped forward and handed him the surveillance footage, his expression grim.

“Alpha King. This is from outside the banquet hall restroom.”

The video began to play.

From start to finish, there wasn’t a single word of Layla insulting Daisy. Not one threat against Daisy’s

parents. Nothing.

Instead, the footage showed Daisy striking Layla.

Then hurling one vicious insult after another.

Finally, she deliberately threw herself to the ground and played the victim.

Everything had been a lie.

Grayson stared at the screen.

The twisted, vicious face on that screen-he barely recognized it. He had never seen Daisy like this before.

And yet he had believed she was innocent. Pure. Self-respecting.

For her sake, he had personally thrown Layla into hell.

The surveillance footage wasn’t the only thing handed to him.

A medical report accompanied it.

“Alpha King.” The guard swallowed hard. “This record came directly from the hospital.”

He lowered his head. “Luna Queen was eight weeks pregnant.”

The paper trembled in Grayson’s hands.

His eyes locked onto the report.

A raw sound escaped his throat, somewhere between a howl and a sob.

Once again, he saw Layla’s eyes from that day in the banquet hall-dead, utterly hopeless.

His towering body swayed. Then collapsed to his knees.

At last, he understood.

Layla hadn’t left out of anger. It hadn’t been a bluff. She wasn’t trying to force his hand.

She didn’t want him anymore. She didn’t want their bond, and she didn’t even want the child they had shared.

She had let go of all of it.

The realization shattered something inside him.

The sobs he had been holding back finally broke free.

Grief and regret crashed over him like a tidal wave.

There was no escaping it.

Inside the dungeon.

Daisy lay sprawled on the floor. Her face was bruised and swollen, and she looked utterly defeated.

Dark fingerprints ringed her neck where Grayson had nearly strangled her.

Through her sobs, she crawled toward him and grabbed his pant leg.

“Alpha King…” Tears and mucus streaked her face. “I know I was wrong.”

“I only did it because I loved you too much.”

“Please forgive me this once.” Her voice became desperate.

“Luna Queen’s gone, but you still have me.”

“We can pretend none of this ever happened. Just let me stay by your side instead. Please…”

Grayson looked down at her. And suddenly, another image flashed through his mind.

Layla had grabbed his pant leg the same way. She had begged him to take her to the hospital and save their

child.

He had pulled her hand away and walked off without looking back. He had left her alone in her darkest

moment.

A violent rage flooded his eyes.

He crouched down, slowly.

He looked at Daisy’s tear-streaked face and felt only disgust.

Whatever affection he had once felt for her was gone.

“You should never have touched her.” His voice was terrifyingly calm.

“My Layla’s gone. And my child is gone too.”

He stood. “Now you can disappear too.”

With one kick, he sent her sprawling across the floor.

Then he turned and walked away.

Behind him, Daisy screamed, cried, and begged as she fought against the guards.

But the warriors dragged her away regardless.

At the dungeon entrance, all hope finally left her eyes.

She began shrieking hysterically.

“Grayson! Even if you kill me, Layla isn’t coming back!”

“With that much blood, she and that bastard were long dead already!”

Her voice rose into a venomous scream.

“You’re the one who didn’t believe her! You killed them with your own hands!”

“You deserve to lose your pup! You deserve to lose the person you love forever!”

The doors slammed shut. Her voice was cut off.

But her words stayed-burned into Grayson’s mind like a curse.

From that day on, everyone in the werewolf realm knew one thing-the Alpha King had gone mad.
