He Took Her To Bali While I Buried My Parents Alone Chapter 06
Landon’s head throbbed worse.
Two sets of memories crashed inside him. His skull felt like it was splitting. His soul seemed to tear away.
How could Elise die?
The Landon from ten years ago asked himself. The Landon from ten years later asked too.
He stood outside the morgue, listening to the psychiatric hospital staff explain how Elise died.
“The patient was too violent. We couldn’t restrain her.”
“The second we let go, she ran to the window and jumped.”
“No. No way.”
Landon tried to barge in and pull back the sheet covering Elise’s body.
But Tessa grabbed his arm, sobbing. “Landon, Elise jumped. She loved being beautiful more than anything. She wouldn’t want you to see her like this!”
Landon’s head rang.
Yeah. Elise used to be so pretty.
When she first came to their house, she was so small, her face smudged with ash from her parents’ funeral.
He’d held her hand, washed her face, and tucked a flower behind her ear. Only then did she smile.
“Landon,” she whispered.
And that person would never wake up again.
Landon became stubborn. No matter how they tried to stop him, he had to see Elise’s body.
And the second he pulled back the sheet, his breath stopped.
Besides the broken bones from the fall, Elise’s skin was covered in purple welts.
Bruises from electric shocks and beatings with batons.
Landon went completely insane.
He sued everyone at the psychiatric hospital who had dealt with Elise, forced them to tell the truth.
And it all pointed to one person.
“Ms. Morgan told us to give Ms. Harris special ‘attention’ and put her on the harshest treatment plan.”
Tessa was dragged in front of Landon, her head forced down to kneel before Elise’s memorial tablet.
“Why?”
The Landon from ten years ago heard himself ask in a broken voice.
Tessa’s hair was a mess as she knelt on the floor. She let out a mocking laugh.
“Why?”
“Because of you, Landon.”
“You wouldn’t choose me, so I had to make her disappear.”
Tessa’s voice dripped poison.
“You couldn’t bear to leave her, but you wanted me to keep adoring you, running circles around you.”
“Dream on.”
“You didn’t know, did you? That day at her grandmother’s nursing home, besides the
engagement invitation, I also showed the old bag the video of us having sex.
“She was so happy to go to her granddaughter’s engagement party. But I told her you and I had been messing around for almost ten years.”
“Oh, and about the mental illness.”
Tessa smirked.
“I just gave her some meds that messed with her mood. Made you believe it.”
“She was never sick.”
“But Landon, are you going to say you had no fault at all?”
Like a lightning strike, Landon couldn’t breathe. The pain tore through him as he fell to his knees.
So it all started with him. He was the one who drove Elise to her death.
The Landon from ten years ago slowly turned transparent, completely separating from his future self.
He watched his future self fall into an abyss, praying to every god, trying every way to bring Elise back.
And he himself was desperate to return to the present and stop everything from happening.
He made up his mind. Cut off Tessa. Chase after Elise. Win her back.
But then he saw himself kneeling at Elise’s grave, driving a knife into his own heart.
He succeeded.
The Landon from ten years later scrolled to a thread from ten years ago.
He knew that Elise from ten years ago was watching that thread right now, knowing nothing.
So he answered immediately.
Using the cruelest words, bit by bit, he drew Elise’s attention. Made her see what kind of garbage she would end up with.
[Now you two won’t miss those four years.]
Her final message arrived. Landon closed his eyes with satisfaction.
And in the next moment, all memories looped back, The Landon from ten years ago everything. His eyes flew open.
understood
“Son, what’s wrong? Why are you so pale?”
Nothing had changed.
His mother looked at him with concern. And before him was Elise’s empty room.
Elise was gone.
She had finally dumped him-the man who destroyed her life-and flown far away.
Landon laughed in despair. He covered his eyes and sobbed out loud.
