I Picked Up a College Guy, Then My Mafia Ex Caught Me Chapter 01

I was carrying the child of a mafia boss.

He had married me only to shield the woman he truly loved, the one who held his heart.

To escape his cruelty, I gave birth and fled.

Years later, I was flirting with a handsome young stranger at my bar when the place was suddenly shut down, and a group of suited men cornered me.

Then the elegant, dangerous man stepped forward, smiled coldly, and patted the small boy beside him.

“Go on,” he said. “Call her Mommy.”

That night, the bar was packed for a promotional event. When I walked in, a chorus of “Boss Lady” rang out from the staff and regulars alike.

At the counter sat a young man in an Oxford shirt, looking conspicuously out of place, clearly his first time in an establishment like this.

I made the first move: charming, pretty boys had always been my weakness.

I bought him a drink.

He glanced at me, then shyly looked away. I pressed on, chatting lightly.

He blushed easily—his ears turning red before he could even stammer out a reply.

He told me he had just graduated and was struggling to find work.

Perfect timing, I happened to be short on good-looking servers.

“How about I get you a job, sweetie? I promise you’ll make far more than you do now.” My regulars were wealthy older women who tipped generously.

He stared at me in surprise.

Just as I was about to ask for his number, a commotion erupted at the entrance.

Before I could react, black SUVs surrounded the block outside. Suited security personnel moved in with practiced precision, sealing off every exit.

I froze, my first thought being a police raid.

But when I saw the license plate on the lead car, I suddenly wished it had been the police instead.

I slammed the panic button and bolted for the back door.

The moment I swung it open, I saw him, leaning against his car door, flipping an old brass lighter between his fingers.

“Ella Morrison. After running for all these years, you still have not gotten any smarter.”

Dominic Blackwood lifted his gaze. The faint smile on his lips was anything but warm.

I was screwed.
