I Picked Up a College Guy, Then My Mafia Ex Caught Me Chapter 03

Dominic took me away.

Through the car window, he watched my handsome staff scurry around inside the bar.

“Ella Morrison. You’ve got some nerve. You don’t raise your kid, but you run off and keep a whole stable of men instead?”

The cold fury in his eyes could have frozen me solid.

I swallowed hard. “Dominic, just let me go. I won’t bother you anymore.”

It wasn’t my fault I had ruined his plans back then. Was he really going to hold a grudge for six years?

He shot me a sidelong glance. “Begging for mercy already? That’s a first.”

He loved the thrill of watching his prey squirm.

He had done it before, locked me up in his estate, cut me off from everyone I knew. I never wanted to go back to that suffocating, gilded cage.

The car pulled away. The scenery blurred past.

Panic rising, I turned to him. “Dominic, I can’t go back. My daughter is waiting for me at home.”

His eyes sharpened with disbelief. He grabbed my arm. “We’re still married. What other man are you running to?”

He was furious.

He brought me back to his hilltop estate in Ashford City and locked me inside.

Our son, Nathan, didn’t speak the whole ride.

Once home, he just sat quietly building with his blocks, stealing glances at me now and then.

Soon after, Dominic’s assistant brought Ava over, my daughter.

The moment she spotted me, her eyes went red and she ran straight into my arms. “Mommy! Who are these people? I’m scared.”

Dominic studied the little girl who shared my features. “How old is she?”

“…Three,” I lied.

The truth was, I had given birth to twins four years ago. But to make my escape easier, I could only take one. I took my daughter.

Years of news stories had taught me that a girl needed her mother close.

I had been left with my aunt’s family as a child, bullied relentlessly by my cousins, that was why I had always been drawn to gentlemen.

Later, I realized I wasn’t looking for romance; I was looking for someone to save me from my past.

Dominic’s eyes frosted over. “Less than a year after leaving me, and you’ve already found someone new? Ella Morrison, you’ve got guts.”

Ava shrank against me, too terrified to look at the scary man. She whispered, “Mommy, let’s go. I want to find Uncle Jake.”

“Sweetheart, we’ll leave in a couple days,” I murmured, trying to soothe her.

Across the room, Dominic’s face was dark as a thundercloud.
