My Ex Walked Into My Flowershop After I Faked My Death Chaptre 03
I lost my mind that day. I smashed everything in the bedroom.
But Kael didn’t look panicked or guilty. There was only annoyance at being interrupted.
“Can you calm down and understand me for once?”
“You have no idea how much pressure our parents are putting on me! If I just give Lila a title, all the problems go away.”
“But I’ll always love you most. Even after we’re married, things can stay the same between us. Isn’t that enough?”
I lost control. I ran to my parents, begging them to stand up for me
But my father raised his voice sharply and reprimanded me harshly in front of all the staff.
“Acting like a rabid woman over a man? Is this how we raised you?”
“Lila is the rightful Thorne bride. As her sister, you should stay away, not ruin things!”
To teach me a lesson, Kael and my parents locked me alone in a lakeside estate on the outskirts of town.
Betrayal and despair ate at me. I stopped sleeping entirely.
By the end, I was half–delirious, telling myself I deserved this.
I’d stolen twenty years of Lila’s life. Giving Kael back/was only fair.
But we’d loved each other so deeply once.
One night, they came to the estate.
From the other side of the wall, I listened to them all night long.
Somehow Lila knocked over a scented candle. By the time I realized, the fire was roaring! smoke choking the air.
Kael, shirt half–undone, grabbed the fragile, frightened Lila and fled.
I was trapped amid thick smoke with no one coming to my aid.
By the time firefighters pulled me out, my face was ruined, my throat was badly irritated by smoke damage.
I woke up in a private recovery clinic.
My entire head was wrapped in bandages. I needed full reconstructive surgery.
Before they wheeled me into the OR, I heard Lila telling the doctors-
Don’t keep her old face. Make her as ugly as you can.
The bright, bold Elara Voss became a stranger, unrecognizable.
I couldn’t model anymore. I could barely take care of myself.
I lay in bed every day, my career, my love, my entire life destroyed.
I built up my courage for thirty minutes before I dared look in the mirror after bandage removal.
Thankfully, the doctor had been kind. He hadn’t disfigured me. He’d given me an ordinary, plain face.
My parents were scared I’d cause more trouble. They took all my devices and left me with a basic flip phone.
It barely connected to the internet, just enough to check simple news pages.
At first, I still hoped. I couldn’t believe Kael would be that cruel.
We’d been childhood sweethearts for over a decade. He knew I was in that estate. He’d come for me.
After every dressing change, I’d fight through the stinging pain and search the same keywords over and over.
Kael Thorne. Elara Voss. Fire. Missing.
The first day, nothing.
The fifth day, only news of Thorne Group’s stock surge.
The tenth day, still nothing.
Half a month later, I finally saw Kael’s name.
It blared across every headline.
Thorne and Carter Families Merge! Thorne Group CEO Kael Thorne Spends Millions on Rare Pink Diamond for Fiancée Lila Carter. Wedding Soon!
In the photo, Kael was in a tailored suit, eyes full of affection. Lila leaned against him, a dazzling diamond on her ring finger.
The perfect golden couple.
My hand shook. The flip phone slipped and shattered on the floor.
The last sliver of hope in my chest died completely.
That same month, I found out I was pregnant
Lila got word from the clinic and rushed over that night.
She stood over my lifeless body on the bed, every inch the winner.
“Kael’s marrying me next month.”
“It only took half a month after we lied and told him you were dead for him to agree.” She laughed softly.
“Your ten years together weren’t worth half a month with me.”
She tossed a statement giving up all Carter inheritance and a fake official death certificate onto my chest.
“Sign. Then take that bastard in your belly and get out of the Carter family for good. Never show your faces again.”
“Don’t try anything funny. For
I felt no anger. No hesitation.
me,
it’s just one more fake death certificate.”
I grabbed the pen and scrawled my signature.
On that day five years ago, Elara Voss burned to death in that fire.
