My Husband’s Double Love for Me and My Best Friend

Chapter 03

Sebastian was gone, and he’d taken Chloe with him.

The house that once symbolized love was now in complete disarray.

I pulled up my phone and contacted Attorney Holt.

“Attorney Holt, I want a divorce from Sebastian, I said.”

There was a pause on the other end before he spoke:

“Ms. Lena, are you serious, he asked. Everyone in LA knows how much you two loved each other-why would you want a

divorce?”

I sighed deeply: “Do you believe it. Attorney Holt, I said. Love has an expiration date.”

Sebastian didn’t come home for three days.

I watched Chloe’s constant updates on social media, feeling nothing but indifference.

Infidelity had become an open secret.

“He said he’s setting up a trust fund for our baby, she posted. Home is always a safe haven.”

“Someone took me to a New York auction, she shared. Bought me a ten-million-dollar necklace!”

“Future dad is diligently learning to make baby food-”

I turned off my phone and packed my bags without distraction.

For such a large house, all my belongings fit into a single suitcase.

Then I gathered up everything related to Sebastian-donated the valuable items, threw away the rest.

As I lay numb in bed, Attorney Holt called.

“Mr. Montgomery signed the papers, he said.”

“He also had a message for you,” the lawyer continued, sounding uncomfortable. “Anyone who doesn’t sign is a spineless

coward. Tell her to get out of the way.”

I let out a soft “Hmm.”

Night had fallen when the front door was thrown open with a crash. Sebastian stormed into the bedroom, marched to

the bed, and hauled me upright by my arm. His eyes burned with anger.

‘I knew you wouldn’t agree to the divorce that easily, he snapped!”

“Pretending to send a fake divorce agreement while running to complain to Mother behind my back, asking her to stand

up for you, isn’t that right!”

I stared at him in confusion. pulling free from his grip forcefully.

“What are you talking about, I said. Don’t throw baseless accusations at me.”

“I stopped loving you the moment you cheated, I added. Don’t be so conceited.”

At that, he let out a sneer, his eyes staring at me with a chilling darkness.

“You expect me to believe that. Lena, he said. Isn’t that ridiculous?”

The woman who once swore she’d be buried with me-suddenly you don’t love me anymore? Where else can you go

without me?”

“I think your own mother hated you so much she abandoned you at the amusement park, he spat. A cold and bitter

woman like you deserves everything you get!”

Slap.

I struck his cheek sharply, staring at him in disbelief.

“What did you say….” I whispered.

At sixteen, I’d told him how my mother had left me alone at the amusement park and vanished. He’d comforted me.

saying: “I’ll always protect you. I’ll make up for the love you lost.”

Now the scar he’d once helped heal had become his weapon to hurt me.

He froze for a moment, a flash of guilt crossing his eyes.

Neither of us spoke another word.

Sebastian dragged me all the way to the Montgomery ancestral home.

The moment I stepped inside, I saw Chloe kneeling in front of Sebastian’s parents.

When she saw Sebastian, she scrambled toward him, tears streaming down her face.

Sebastian looked at her with unhidden tenderness, then turned to his mother.

“Mother, how could you punish her, he said. She’s not a Montgomery-she doesn’t deserve our family discipline”

At that, Sebastian’s father cracked his cane sharply, the sound echoing through the hall

“You disgrace!” the old man roared, his face purple with rage. “She may not bear our name, but she dared to seduce a

married man-my son! That insolence alone merits punishment!”

“Someone, bring her here! Give her a hundred strokes-teach this disrespectful girl a lesson!”

A servant took the whip and raised it, but before it could fall, Sebastian stepped in front of Chloe without hesitation.

taking the heavy blow squarely on his back.

His father flew into an even greater rage at the sight. “You want to protect her that badly, do you, he shouted. Beat him

until he comes to his senses! Beat him until he learns his lesson!”

A hundred lashes would be enough to make anyone spit up blood and leave their skin torn to shreds.

As the whip was raised again. Chloe threw herself in front of Sebastian, taking the blow for him.

Sebastian coughed, a spray of blood staining his lips. His voice was a ragged, desperate thing. “Don’t… you can’t hit her.

She’s carrying my child.”
