My Mafia Husband Gave Me $4 a Day While I Was Pregnant Chapter 07

I stared coldly at her.

Camilla shrugged. “Don’t look at me. You’re the one spending it. Once I transfer it, it’s out of my hands.”

Sebastian placed the store receipts on the table. “What about these? Sofia bought all of this too?”

“Yes.” Camilla nodded without hesitation.

“Then why don’t I have a single luxury item at home?” I clenched my jaw so hard it hurt.

She barely glanced at me. “Ms. Hayes, I’m your accountant, not your personal shopper. How would I know where you put it all?”

“You…” My hands balled into fists. Before I could say more, Sebastian laid his hand over mine, his palm warm against my skin.

I looked at him and understood. After years in the underworld, it wouldn’t take him long to work out the truth. He’d probably seen through Camilla after hearing the first few details.

Sure enough, a young lawyer soon arrived with a thick stack of evidence.

“Mr. Moretti, we’ve completed our investigation. Every transfer went to an offshore account. There are numerous discrepancies in the documents Ms. Laurent provided; they’re most likely AI-generated or otherwise forged.”

“Liar!” Camilla went pale. “You’re just a lawyer! What the hell do you know?”

He didn’t blink. “The transactions in Ms. Hayes’s account match the records she provided exactly. I also have the company records of your calls and messages with her.”

He spread printed copies of the messages across the table. The last of the color drained from Camilla’s face. “You… You’ve been spying on me! How dare you? Do you have any idea who my father is?”

“Your father knows about this. He’s so disappointed that he asked me to handle it instead of coming himself.” The lawyer remained calm and professional. “Ms. Laurent, company phones and accounts automatically log and retain communications. You should know that.”

Camilla’s breath caught. Sebastian read through the messages, his expression growing darker with every page.

“Four dollars a day. That’s all you gave my wife.” His voice was terrifyingly calm. “You told her I wanted her to lose weight, then threatened to cut her food allowance if she gained any.”

“She took ten dollars the first time and a hundred the second, and you told me she’d emptied my entire safe.”

He looked up at her and threw the papers at her feet. “Camilla, what the hell were you trying to do?”

Her knees gave out, and she crumpled to the floor, crying. “I… I couldn’t stand it!” She looked desperately up at him. “Sebastian! Why does she get to be your wife? Why couldn’t it be me?”

He frowned. Camilla pointed at me. “We graduated from the same school! I’m prettier than she is! I grew up knowing how to run a Mafia household. I’m the one who should be a Don’s wife, and all I get to do is watch you smile at her?”

Her voice rose, increasingly hysterical. “Then she gets pregnant, packs on the pounds, and lets herself go! And you still won’t look at me. You just give her more money! Why? What does she have that I don’t?”

She crawled toward Sebastian and grabbed his pant leg. “Is it because I’m not your type? I can get plastic surgery! I’m taller than she is. I dress better. A little work, and I could be prettier than her. I can be whatever you want!”

Before she could finish, Sebastian kicked her away. “Enough!”

She hit the floor hard and stared up at him in disbelief, her eyes red.

Sebastian immediately took out his phone. “Giuseppe, I’m sorry. Your daughter won’t be coming home for a while.”

Camilla went white. “What? Mr. Moretti, you can’t! Please don’t do this! Are you sending me to the convent? No, I’ll lose my mind in there!”

He shook his head coldly. “You’d be getting off easy with the convent.”

The soldiers arrived shortly afterward and took her away. When it was all over, Sebastian came back to my hospital room and sat beside the bed.

“Sofia…” He reached for my hand, and I pulled it away without hesitation.

“Sebastian, I want a divorce.”
