The Alpha Didn’t Repent Until I Was Gone Chapter 05
Silver was poison to wolves.
Even a light cut from silver could rot the flesh.
Vera threw herself right onto it.
The night before, I gave her everything.
Her servant contract.
All the money I had saved.
I begged that foolish Omega, the girl who grew up beside me, to run.
To take the money and leave.
To find a kind little pack that would take her in and let her live in peace.
She cried and shook her head.
“Ma’am, I’m not leaving. I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying with you forever.”
And now she really had.
She gave up her life for me.
What an idiot.
A little while later, Sebastian walked in.
He reached for my forehead.
I turned my head away with the last bit of strength I had.
His hand froze in midair.
He sighed.
“Olivia, I know you feel wronged.”
“But I had reasons.”
“There are too many people in the pack I can’t control. I had reasons for making Eloise give birth before you.”
Something in me snapped.
I forced myself upright in bed.
“Sebastian, did your reasons need five dead children?”
“Vera grew up with me. She died on a guard’s silver blade!”
I grabbed the cold medicine bowl beside me and hurled it at him.
He didn’t move. Didn’t dodge.
The bowl shattered against his chest.
Liquid splashed across his white shirt like dying flowers.
I screamed until I lost my voice.
Until I collapsed, gasping for air.
Only then did he finally speak.
“Olivia, trust me. This is the last time.”
I laughed.
Low. Hoarse. Bitter.
“Look at you. You didn’t come here because you care about me, did you?”
That was when he finally said what he came to say.
“Tomorrow, you’ll go to the square.”
“In front of the elders and the allied Alphas, you’ll read a confession.”
“You’ll admit you harmed Eloise’s child.”
“You’ll beg for her forgiveness.”
Then he looked me right in the eye.
“You have no idea how powerful Eloise’s backers are. Her mother’s tribe is the strongest tribe in North
America.”
“I need their support. So you will have to suffer this one small grievance.”
I looked up.
Then I smiled.
“Fine. I’ll do it.”
He wasn’t expecting that.
I saw it in his face.
Then he looked at my pale skin, my cracked bleeding lips, and his voice went cold again.
“Olivia.”
He bent down until his mouth was right by my ear.
“Stop acting like a victim.”
“You’re a thirty-year-old Omega. Your womb has hemorrhaged five times. Your body is wrecked.”
“Even if I threw Eloise away right now, how long do you think you’d last?”
“Do you really think you could still give me a pup that made it past one year old?”
“I’m keeping you alive and letting you leave with some dignity. That’s the limit of what I can do.”
“Be smart. Admit your fault. Take the punishment.”
“Don’t make me erase your name from the Ravencroft pack registry.”
Then he straightened and walked out.
I sat on that freezing bed and finally understood everything.
Eloise had to be the first to give birth because the tribe behind her needed that child to control the Black
Moon Pack from the inside.
I had nothing behind me.
No power. No family.
My parents died years ago.
A child born to me first would only get in the way of the alliance they wanted.
