The Hollow Luna Who Got Betrayed Chapter 04

Two weeks later, on a quiet afternoon, I had already settled down in a small seaside town.

The town did not fall under any pack’s territory. It was a neutral human settlement. My Omega scent had

grown so weak it was almost undetectable, which actually made it safer for me to blend in among humans.

I sold the diamond from my bond ring. The ring still carried the lingering imprint of Lucas’s Alpha scent, so I threw the setting into a furnace and exchanged the stone for a large sum of money. After that, I spent my days surrounded by good food and beautiful views.

Some parts of my body still ached faintly from time to time. I had no idea how much longer I could live, so I

treated every day as if it were my last. My wolf had not answered me in a long time. It was probably dying

slowly, too.

As I lay in a beach chair and listened to the waves breaking against the shore, I realized that in all twenty-seven years of my life, I had never felt this free or this at ease.

A figure walked toward me across the sand. It was Noah Carter, the attorney helping me break the mate

bond.

He was a Rogue, which meant he would not be intimidated by an Alpha’s power and had the nerve to take

any case involving one.

In werewolf circles, people called him the Hired-Gun Attorney. As long as the money was right, he would take anyone’s case. In truth, he was probably the only one daring enough to take mine.

The man looked reckless and disreputable, with eyes so striking they were almost too pretty and a shirt that always had the top two buttons undone. He looked less like a serious attorney and more like a slick legal

hustler.

With his hands in his pockets, he looked down at me and said lazily, “I already spoke to him for you. That Alpha said he refuses to break the mate bond with you. Even if you don’t ask for a single cent in assets, he

still won’t agree.”

“He isn’t even going to the office anymore. He’s been looking for you like a madman. I barely managed to shake him off before coming to see you. Looks like you matter to him more than you thought.”

“Hah.” I let out a soft scoff. “He’s always been good at putting on a show. The truth is, he’s only worried something might go wrong when Julia gives birth. If he keeps me by his side, he has insurance, a spare supply of organs ready whenever he needs them.”

“What are you planning to do next?”

“I know he won’t let me go easily. Tell him that if he refuses to break the mate bond, I’ll make the whole truth public, including how he abused his authority as Alpha to falsify medical records and trick his Omega mate into donating organs.”

“What if I still refuse?”

A familiar, cold male voice came from behind me, laced with a strong cedarwood Alpha scent. It was Lucas. I noved the hat off my face and looked straight into his dark, intense eyes.

He looked far worse than he had half a month ago. His jaw was covered in stubble, his clothes were wrinkled, and he looked almost like a drifter. His scent was badly unstable, as if his wolf were on the edge of losing control.

I stood up to leave, but he grabbed my hand and said hoarsely, “Can you forgive me just this once?”

I shook off his hand. Pain began to spread through my chest again, and after a few seconds, I finally managed to breathe through it. In a low voice, I said, “Lucas, can you please let me go? My wolf is almost dead because of you. What else do you want from me?”

Half a month ago, I had sent my medical report to his office. I had hoped that after seeing how badly I had been destroyed, he would finally let me go.

But he still refused.

I lifted my shirt and pointed at the hideous surgical scars across my abdomen. I could not keep the fury out

of my voice.

“Lucas, do you want to add a few more scars to my stomach? Was I born just to be a tool for treating Julia’s illnesses? Am I not allowed to have a life of my own? You destroyed my Omega identity. You killed my wolf. What more do you want?”

“You already carved out my kidney and my womb. Isn’t that enough? Will you only be satisfied once you hollow me out completely and give every last piece of me to Julia?”

“No. No, never again. I won’t hurt you anymore.”

Lucas suddenly stepped forward and locked me tightly in his arms, begging. His Alpha scent poured out wildly, trying to wrap around me, but my body could no longer respond to it.

“I realized I can’t lose you. While I was pretending to love you, truly fell in love with you. I was a bastard. I sinned against you. Please, give me one chance to make it right. My wolf is howling. It says you’re the one it  wants.”

“No. I don’t want that. You butcher. Get away from me. Don’t touch me!”

“Let her go, you bastard.”

My face flushed red as I struggled with all my strength, but I slowly began to lose the ability to breathe. Noah’s furious shout rang in my ears, yet before I could react, my vision went black and I lost

consciousness.

My Ornega wolf let out one last faint whimper before everything sank into darkness.

When I woke in a daze, the first thing I saw was a private hospital room. The pack hospital emblem on the wall showed that I had been brought back to the heart of Northern Pack territory.

A man’s furious voice came faintly from outside. His Alpha pressure was so strong I could feel it through the

wall. “She’s been unconscious for two days and two nights. Why hasn’t she woken up yet?”

“Alpha, please calm down. The Luna’s only remaining kidney is failing. Right now, we need to wait for a suitable kidney donor. Her Omega wolf is almost dead. We need time.”

“A kidney donor?”

The voices outside only sounded noisy to me, so I reached out and pressed the call button beside the bed.

The next second, Lucas rushed in and touched my face, his expression frantic. “You’re finally awake. How do you feel? Does anything hurt?” His Alpha scent was panicked, like a pup that had done something wrong.

I turned my head away and said coldly, “Sign the mate-bond dissolution papers. Seeing your face makes me

sick.”

Lucas seemed completely unaffected by my coldness.

He lifted my hand, took a ring out of his pocket, and pushed it firmly onto my ring finger. His voice was gentle as he said, “Silly girl, if you needed money, why didn’t you come to me? Don’t sell something this important again, okay?”

Holding back a surge of anger, I struggled to sit up in bed. I did not care that the other hand still had an IV in it. I yanked off the ring he had forced onto me and threw it as hard as I could.

“Lucas, I want to break the mate bond. I said I want to break the mate bond. Do you not understand me?”
