Secret Love Ended Before His Wedding Chapter 08
“This marriage is also because her father got into a car accident while he was away on business. He needed surgery right away, but Brielle was too proud to accept my help, so I thought I’d give her the money as a
family contribution through the wedding.”
“Sienna, Brielle isn’t just my friend. She’s your best friend too. I helped her. How can you hold that against me?”
He didn’t understand what he had done wrong.
He didn’t understand why I was angry.
Listening to the accusation buried in his words, I couldn’t help but barked out a bitter laugh.
“So by that logic, if I want to help someone, I can become his girlfriend, marry him, and call myself his wife?”
Nolan’s expression stiffened. He scolded me under his breath, “What are you talking about? Marriage is
sacred. It’s not something you joke about.”
“And you?”
“Were you sincere, or is this whole thing just a game?”
I looked straight at him, my eyes full of mockery.
“Nolan, before you try to lecture me, maybe ask yourself whether you’re even qualified to say any of that.”
With that, I pushed past him and walked out of the dressing room.
Hayes hadn’t left yet.
He was standing obediently beside my mother.
At her instruction, he greeted every guest who was leaving.
“What took you so long to grab a purse? I thought you had managed to lose your way,” my mother said,
shooting me an annoyed look.
Hayes naturally took it from my hands, and held it in his hand.
“It’s normal for women to touch up their makeup after dinner. A little extra time doesn’t hurt ”
My mother nodded in satisfaction, then teased him on purpose. “Look at you. I only said one thing, and
you’re already defending her.”
Then her expression turned serious again as she looked at me.
“Sienna, I don’t care why you two fought. You still shouldn’t have gone around saying he was dead. I spent
the last two days thinking something terrible had happened to him, worrying you might do something reckless.”
Hayes smiled at me without saying anything.
Thinking about everything that had happened over the past few days, a wave of exhaustion washed over me.
After a long pause, I finally said, “I know.”
Normally, after the wedding, the newlyweds should have left for their honeymoon.
Brieile had planned for that too.
The day before the wedding, she had even posted photos of Cape Cod on Instagram, talking about how badly
she wanted to go.
But Nolan didn’t follow her plans anymore.
On their wedding night, he didn’t go back to their new place with Brielle.
Instead, he knocked on my front door.
My mother looked at him in surprise. “Nolan? It’s your wedding night. Why are you here?”
“Aunt Claire, I need to talk to Sienna. Could you call her for me?”
On his way over, he had called me countless times.
All he got in response was the cold automated message telling him the call couldn’t go through.
Only then did he realize I had blocked his number.
Then he tried texting me appeared on the screen.
In that moment, for the first time, he understood what it meant to feel riddled with panic.
“What do you need Sienna for?”
Before my mother could say anything, Hayes walked slowly to the entryway and looked at him with a faint
smile.
“Why are you here?” Nolan’s pupils tightened, and the unease inside him grew heavier.
Hayes smiled softly.
“I was planning to get a hotel room, but Mom said there was an empty room here. Since I am practically family now, there was no need to go back out.”
“What the hell did you just say?” Nolan’s eyes went red with rage. He rushed forward without thinking and grabbed Hayes by the collar. “Say that again, Hayes. I dare you.”
Facing his fury, Hayes didn’t show the slightest fear.
He smiled and said, “I said Mom asked me to…”
Before he could finish, a heavy punch landed hard on his face.
