Secret Love Ended Before His Wedding Chapter 07
By the time I changed out of my bridesmaid dress and found them, my mother had already introduced Hayes to everyone.
“Yes, my future son-in-law is wonderful. He sends me the loveliest holiday gifts. He’s just too busy with work. They’ve been together five years, and today was the first time I finally met him.”
Hearing that, my steps faltered.
Hayes’s eyes softened with a flash of genuine guilt. “I’m sorry. From now on, no matter how busy I am, I’ll come back with Sienna to visit you.”
My mother was immediately charmed, her eyes crinkling with delight.
Then she turned to Brielle’s mother to flaunt him. “See? I told you our Sienna had good taste. Hayes is every bit as good as Nolan.”
The moment those words landed, Nolan, who had come over to toast our table, went completely dark in the face.
His fingers tightened around his glass until his knuckles turned pale, glaring at me with barely suppressed fury.
Brielle noticed and quickly changed the subject.
“Thank you, everyone, for taking time out of your busy lives to come to Nolan’s and my wedding…”
Nolan stayed silent the entire time, his expression cold.
His eyes remained fixed on Hayes and me.
I could clearly feel that burning stare on my back.
But I refused to look his way.
Hayes completely ignored the newlyweds.
He calmly served food to my mother and me, slow and unbothered.
When the wedding finally ended, I went to the dressing room to get my purse before leaving.
Nolan suddenly appeared and grabbed my wrist.
“Sienna, what the hell is going on between you and him?”
He seemed truly furious. There was no restraint in his grip.
Pain shot through my wrist.
I sucked in a sharp breath.
But I didn’t pull away.
“What happens between me and him has nothing to do with you.”
“Nothing to do with me?” He laughed in anger. “Sienna, did you forget what we are to each other?”
I laughed too, purely at the absurdity of it.
“Friends.”
His expression soured into something ugly.
“Nothing more.”
His grip tightened to a bruising vice.
“Friends? Nothing more? Sienna, did you forget the five years we spent together?”
I yanked my hand free and took a step back.
“When did I ever date you?”
“Nolan, your girlfriend is Brielle. Your wife is also Brielle.”
“Sienna!”
Nolan was furious now.
The lazy smile he used to wear was gone from his face, replaced by something dark and frightening.
“How many times do I have to tell you? I was only helping her. Other than that, there is nothing between
Brielle and me.”
“Is that right? Then why did you go home with her as her boyfriend? Why did you let the whole neighborhood
know you two were together?”
“Nolan, in the five years we were together, I asked you countless times to come home with me and meet my
parents. Did you ever say yes?”
I hadn’t wanted to bring any of this up again.
But he insisted on dragging every ugly piece of it into the open.
“You lied and said you were swamped with business trips, then came back here with Brielle. When you stood
in her living room playing the doting boyfriend, did you ever once remember that I existed?”
“Brielle is shy. Her family was pressuring her hard, and she just wanted someone to pretend to be her boyfriend so she could get through it. I was the only man she knew well enough to ask, so I helped her.”
Nolan swallowed down his anger and lowered his voice, trying to explain.
