My Swiss Knife Her Scar His Wedding Day Chapter 06
I lunged.
Grabbed her by the collar and slammed her neck against the window frame.
“Ariana. Don’t. I scarred you once. I can do it again. You better pray your surgeon is good enough for a
second fix.”
She was soft. Lived a pampered life. In seconds, her eyes rolled back and her hands slapped weakly at
the door.
me!”
But her lips curled into a smile. A knowing smile.
I understood immediately and let go.
But police were already surrounding me.
“Help! This woman was trying to seduce my husband! I came to confront her, and she tried to choke
Damn it.
Ariana hadn’t lost her talent for flipping the truth.
Same trick. Same as ten years ago. She wanted me back in prison.
I folded my arms and watched her sob to the cops. Tears streamed down her face. So pitiful. Anyone
would feel for her.
Soon, the station door burst open.
Grant ran in.
He wrapped his arms around Ariana, apologies pouring out.
“I’m sorry, honey. I shouldn’t have picked a fight with you as soon as I got home. But seeing Paige again… so broke, so worn down… it made me feel like we were too harsh on her back then.”
Ariana snuggled into his chest, trembling like a scared bird.
“Don’t feel guilty, baby. I didn’t think she’d still be so violent after prison. Leopards don’t change their
spots.”
I glanced at the clock again.
From my place to this station, it was about a half-hour drive. My husband should be here soon.
“Paige, I’m really disappointed in you.”
Grant lifted his head. His eyes were cold now. Any pity or guilt from the shop was gone.
If anything, he looked relieved.
Yeah
Harming an honest, simple woman gives you a guilty conscience. But if you can prove she was always
rotten, then throwing her away feels justified.
Like he needed to vent, Grant launched into my criminal history.
He said I bullied Ariana from childhood. Called her mother-his legal wife-a homewrecker. Said I killed
my own mother and blamed it on my stepmom.
Said I was such an unfilial daughter that I ignored my father’s hopes and went to Aspen to ski.
Said he gave me every resource when we came back, and I accomplished nothing.
Said he was drunk that day and confused Ariana for me.
And I, without listening to reason, slashed her face.
“She’s rotten to the core,” he said, each word deliberate, maybe trying to convince the police or himself.
“Born bad.”
The officers looked more serious now. They looked at me like a real felon.
I just smiled.
I pulled out my phone with the cracked screen and hit play.
“Grant tells me you’re a mechanic now. Married a used man. Had two average kids. Wow. No wonder
you’re so desperate for men and money…”
Ariana’s voice rang clear from the speaker.
Her face collapsed. The act was gone. She lunged at me, grabbing for my phone to smash it.
But the cops were faster. They pinned her to the desk and made her listen.
Every smug word. Clear as day.
Grant’s face went pale. Shade by shade. Until there was no color left.
