He Marked Me, Then Forced Me to Bow to His Mistress Chapter 04
“Grayson, thank you for standing up for me. I was so scared earlier.”
Grayson let out a soft chuckle and pinched Daisy’s cheek affectionately.
“So, what kind of compensation do you want?”
With a sweet smile, Daisy took the bullet casing pendant from his hand and dropped it into the nearest trash
can as if it meant nothing.
Grayson’s expression changed immediately.
At that, Daisy’s eyes reddened on cue. “Was it important?”
She looked genuinely distressed as she moved toward the trash can.
“Then let me get it back for you.”
“After all, you two grew up together. Even if she hurt me, I don’t want to put you in a difficult position.”
Grayson wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her back.
“Nothing is more important than you.”
He slipped a black card into her hand.
“Don’t dirty your hands. Here-an unlimited card. Go buy yourself whatever you want.”
Daisy pouted and pushed it away.
“I don’t want your money. I love you, not your wealth.”
“Yes, yes, of course.” Grayson laughed, helpless against her.
“Then do me a favor and spend it. I won’t feel at ease if you don’t.”
Daisy finally accepted it, though she clearly didn’t want to.
Three days later, I was dragged out of the dungeon in a daze.
I was escorted all the way to one of the grand banquet halls of the werewolf realm.
The moment the doors opened, I saw Grayson and Daisy sitting together on the center sofa.
They were sharing a grape. When the grape slipped, they just turned it into a kiss.
The cheers and whoops from the crowd nearly blew the roof off.
It took a while before Grayson finally noticed me standing at the entrance.
The moment he saw my pale, gaunt face, his expression darkened.
“What happened to you?” His voice sharpened. “Did someone in there mistreat you?”
Before I could answer, Daisy let out a mocking laugh.
“The Luna Queen really knows how to toy with a man’s heart.”
She leaned comfortably against Grayson’s chest.
“With your relationship to the Alpha King, who would dare bully you?”
Her eyes swept over me. “That sickly look’s pretty convincing, though. Must’ve taken you ages.”
Grayson had started to rise from the sofa.
Hearing her words, he slowly sat back down.
He pulled out a cigarette and lit it with the flame Daisy held for him.
Smoke curled around his face, blurring his features.
Only his eyes remained visible. And they were filled with barely contained impatience.
“Since you’ve had time to reflect, come apologize to Daisy.”
Daisy wore a simple pale dress and nestled obediently in his arms.
A glass of white liquor swayed lazily in her hand.
“I don’t actually want to make things hard for you.” She put on a sweet smile.
“But you insulted my parents. Who wouldn’t be upset?”
Then something seemed to occur to her.
She let out a dramatic gasp. “Oh, I forgot. You wouldn’t understand.”
Her smile widened. “Your parents abandoned you when you were little.”
“If it weren’t for the Alpha King, you would’ve starved to death.”
I said nothing. Neither did Grayson.
His face remained cold and unreadable.
Daisy set her glass on the table. “Drink up.”
I lowered my head. “I’m sorry.”
Daisy shook her head. “Just saying it isn’t very sincere.”
She pointed at the glass. “That’s a hundred-twenty proof. Down it.”
I stared at the bubbling clear liquid.
I looked toward Grayson on instinct.
Back when I was helping him climb to power, I spent years drinking at endless banquets.
I drank until my stomach lining was shot.
Every time, I ended up in intensive care.
After that, Grayson forbade me to ever touch alcohol again.
But the man before me now merely exhaled a lazy ring of smoke.
His expression remained indifferent.
“Layla.” His voice was casual. “It’s only one glass. Your tolerance isn’t that bad.”
I had already stopped expecting anything from him.
Yet my heart still tightened painfully.
I picked up the glass and swallowed it in one gulp.
The burn ripped down my throat and hit my stomach like fire.
A sharp pain suddenly twisted through my lower abdomen. I staggered backward.
Daisy’s smile widened. “The Luna Queen can sure hold her liquor.”
She pointed toward a row of colorful bottles lined across the table.
“Then how about a few more?”
My expression turned cold.
Daisy immediately looked toward Grayson.
“Alpha King, I was called a mistress and threatened with my parents’ deaths. I’ve suffered such terrible
emotional trauma.”
Her voice turned pitiful. “All I’m asking for is this tiny little compensation. Is that really too much?”
“Of course not.” Grayson pulled her closer.
He crushed his cigarette into the ashtray.
Every word sounded perfectly reasonable to him.
“Layla, I’d like to be on your side. But you’ve gone too far this time.”
“Do as Daisy says. Once her anger subsides, your sins will be atoned.”
I nodded calmly.
One hand pressed against my abdomen, where the pain felt like knives twisting inside me.
With the other, I picked up an entire decanter of liquor.
“A few glasses aren’t enough to atone for my sins.”
I smiled faintly. “I’ll down the whole bottle.”
The bottle slipped from my hand and shattered. A mouthful of blood sprayed from my lips.
My knees gave out beneath me. I collapsed onto the ground.
Daisy recoiled several steps in disgust.
“Luna Queen, it was only one bottle.”
She rolled her eyes. “You actually brought a blood pack? Don’t you think that’s a bit much?”
Grayson seemed to buy that explanation.
His brows pulled together in irritation. “Enough.”
His voice was cold. “How much longer are you going to keep this act up?”
“Daisy has already been generous with you.”
“Have you embarrassed yourself enough? Get up.
I didn’t move. I just looked up at him.
Then a woman standing nearby suddenly screamed.
“Blood!” Her face turned white. “There’s blood all over her pants!”
She stared at me in horror.
“Oh my God… she’s having a miscarriage…”
I watched the color drain from Grayson’s face.
For the first time all day, I smiled sincerely.
I met his gaze and said quietly, “I repaid that debt with your child too.”
I held his gaze. “Is that enough now?”
