The Wedding He Skipped Became My Ticket To An Empire Chapter 03

After getting out of the car, I went straight to where the bluebells grew

Ethan had planted them for me, saying they symbolized eternal love

Once, I caught him secretly burying something in the dirt. I begged to see it, but he just smiled and pullers me into a hug ‘It’s a surprise for the wedding

So I had waited, imagining what it could be.

Now I dug through the soil at the base of the bluebells with my bare hands. My nails broke, and blood mixers with the dirt, but I felt no pain. Only one obsession remained.

Finally, I unearthed a small box. With trembling hands, I opened it.

Inside was a photo of Chloe and a simple Möbius strip ring.

The girl stood in front of a huge sunflower mural, her face smeared with paint, beaming at the camera. On the back of the photo, a boy had written a passionate confession.

[My one true love. May you shine bright. May fate bind us together.]

The date was July 5, 2016. The day my Auto-added to the Library “So you found it.” Ethan’s hoarse voice

like Chloe, but that’s in the past.

“I wanted to confess that day, but she hugged everyone and called us all friends. The ring never got handed over.”

“So,” I choked out, “you got drunk because she rejected you, fell off the terrace, and my mother died saving you.”

I sobbed, my whole body shaking. Because of this ridiculous, pathetic reason, I had lost my mother, and then he had deceived me for eight years.

“It wasn’t a coincidence, was it? You transferred schools on purpose. You showed up in my life on purpose.

You made sure I owed you money and spent three years running after you.”

“Was it fun playing with me, Ethan?”

“No, Sophia, that’s not how it was.”

Ethan panicked. He reached out to wipe my tears but pulled his hand back when I flinched.

He took out a lighter and set the photo on fire.

“Chloe and I are completely innocent. Since it bothers you so much, I’ll destroy it.”

“If you still mind, I’ll cut her off completely, okay?”

He pulled out his phone, found Chloe’s contact, and blocked and deleted her in front of me.

But a second later, Chloe called.

Ethan hesitated for two seconds, then answered.

“One last time I’ll end this with her.”

After listening for a moment, he frowned. “Wait for me. I’ll be right there.”

He grabbed his jacket, then noticed the sneer on my lips.

He pressed his lips together. “You know Chloe’s stepmother isn’t easy to deal with. If I’m not there on my wedding night, she’ll give Chloe a hard time. But I promise, nothing will happen.”

I sneered. “You already had a wedding together. Doing something would only be natural. We’re done, Ethan.”

Ethan’s eyes flashed with disbelief, then anger. “Are you threatening to break up with me? You don’t trust me or our relationship at all?”

I shook my head, my voice calm. “It ended the moment you took the wrong turn and chose to go along with

it.”

Ethan let out a low, mocking laugh as he looked at me. “Don’t pretend you’re going through with that

arranged marriage. You almost fooled Lucas and the others, but don’t fool yourself.”

“Stop playing hard to get. Who else would marry you?”
