The Blind Boy I Picked Up Was the Mafia Don Chapter 03

“Don Corleone, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ll be going now.”

In those few seconds, I’d already mapped out my escape route in my head.

But just as I was about to move, my blood sugar tanked.

Right before I hit the floor, someone caught me around the waist.

The light flickered in and out. Through blurry vision, I saw that Alexander-who a second ago had been so intimidating-now had red-rimmed eyes.

His perfectly pressed suit was a mess under my grip, buttons popped open, revealing a little mole on his collarbone. It was obscene.

Maybe I was hallucinating, but I heard Alexander whisper “Ma’am” over and over, his voice urgent and pained.

I couldn’t speak. Everything went dark. With the last of my strength, I pointed at my mouth, trying to tell him to find me something to eat.

But Alexander froze for a second, then slowly leaned down…

My eyes flew open. I tried with everything I had to sit up, but I blacked out completely.

When I came to, I was in a hospital bed.

A nurse next to me said gently, “Miss Clark, you’re awake. Just hang on a little longer-the glucose drip is almost done.”

I thanked her. The memory of what happened right before I passed out came flooding back, and I unconsciously licked my dry lips.

In the end… did Alexander actually…?

Even if I didn’t explain myself well and he misunderstood,

he clearly has someone he likes. Why would he listen to such an unreasonable request?

If he’s that obedient, then how about he let me go and give me a hundred million while he’s at it?

“Miss Clark,” the nurse glanced around and lowered her voice, “you and Don Corleone… are you…?”

She gave me a shy, knowing look.

I had no idea why she’d get such a crazy idea. I waved my hands. “Alexander and I aren’t close And isn’t he engaged to Isabella…”

The nurse gave me a look that said “sure, Jan.” “Honey, you’ve got it wrong. That was just a joke their parents made when they were born. It doesn’t mean anything.”

:were “But you, Miss Clark-you should have seen it. When Don Corleone brought you in, his eyes were completely red. He was holding your hand so tight, looking like he was about to shatter. No matter what we said, he wouldn’t let go.”

“And me, I love trashy novels, so I could smell the drama from a mile away.”

“Thank God it was just low blood sugar and mild malnutrition. Otherwise, I’d have thought Don Corleone was about to say, ‘If you can’t heal her, this whole hospital will be buried with her.””

This nurse had definitely read way too many Mafia-werewolf romance books…

“You’ve got it wrong,” I said, fuming as she took out my IV. “That guy holds a grudge like nobody’s business. He’s all about an eye for an eye. Right now, he’s probably plotting his revenge.”

The nurse suddenly coughed and winked at me.

That’s when I noticed Alexander standing in the doorway.

He’d changed clothes. Black hoodie, zipped up to his chin, the rims of his eyes still a little pink. Still cold, but with a hint of youthfulness.

Just standing there, he was a sight.

The nurse giggled and slipped away.

“What’s that?” I pointed at the thermos in Alexander’s hand, telling myself he probably just got here and didn’t hear what I said.

Alexander took off his jacket and walked in. “Food from the evil, eye-for-an-eye guy.”

Me: “…”

Welp. There goes that hope.
