My Husband’s Double Love for Me and My Best Friend Chapter 08

My Husband’s Double Love for Me and My Best Friend Chapter 08

Attorney Holt reached into his leather attaché, withdrew a thick sheaf of documents, and placed them squarely in

Sebastian’s hands.

“Mr. Montgomery, on behalf of my client Ms. Carter, I formally notify you, he said.”

“Your shares in FW Corporation, ten mansions, and five cars are marital assets, he explained. Per the prenuptial

agreement, all marital assets belong to Ms. Carter following divorce.”

“Additionally, every penny you spent on the third party during the marriage must be recovered and repaid to my client.”

Sebastian went very still. The color drained from his face, replaced by a stormy, ashen pallor. He offered no response.

Instead, Chloe stepped forward impulsively, shouting: “Why should you take all his assets just because you want a

divorce!”

“Because he cheated, I replied flatly.”

As the words fell,

On the massive screen behind me, a video began to play. Silent, damning. Security footage of hotel corridors,

timestamped photos from restaurants, a familiar bracelet on Chloe’s wrist-a curated reel of Sebastian’s betrayal.

When the video cut off abruptly, the two in front of me looked ashen.

Then an audio recording played-Chloe’s conversation with the kidnappers she’d bribed, plotting to kill me.

Chloe completely panicked, clinging to Sebastian’s hand and defending herself frantically: “It’s not true! It’s Al-generated.

she said. She’s framing me on purpose!”

Sebastian glared at her fiercely, his fists clenched tightly. He remained silent.

In the next second, his assistant rushed over in a panic, holding documents: “Mr. Montgomery, the company’s stock has

crashed, he said. Shareholders are demanding answers! And the major investor has withdrawn their funds!”

Sebastian snatched the documents, anger clouding his brows.

He tore them to shreds frantically, roaring: “Why would the investor withdraw? They’ve supported us for years!”

The assistant hesitated for a long time before speaking: “The major investor was Ms. Carter all along, he admitted. She

chose to withdraw the funds.”

At that, he turned to me in disbelief. I stuffed my hands in my pockets and raised an eyebrow

“A divorce gift, you’re welcome, I said.”

“Sebastian, I made you who you are, I added. I can just as easily make you crash and burn Stop deluding yourself into

thinking you’re a business genius-without me, without the Carters. you’re nothing.”

100.00%

There was nothing more to say. I turned and walked away, leaving the wreckage of his life and his pride behind me

Sebastian refused to give up, grabbing my arm tightly: “Lena, where are you going!”

I yanked my hand away, smiling: “Somewhere without you, of course, I said. To live a better life.”

Thud.

He dropped to his knees, clutching my wrist again: “I’m sorry, Lena, don’t leave!”

“I was foolish to trust that bitch, he cried. I love you-remember I said we’d start over once the baby was born!”

I turned around, meeting his tear-filled eyes.

How ridiculous.

Crocodile tears.

“Sebastian, the thing I hate most in this world is people who break their promises, I said. We ended the moment you

cheated.”

“From now on, whether you live or die, whether you’re rich or poor-it has nothing to do with me, I added. Goodbye

forever.”

Elias didn’t wait for a response. A firm, disdainful shove with his foot sent Sebastian sprawling backward onto the cold

floor.

I boarded the private jet outside. As it soared over LA’s skyline, my new life had only just begun.

Chloe watched Sebastian kneeling and sobbing bitterly. She walked over, smiling and comforting him:

“Sebastian, we can finally be together, she said. Let her go-she’s not worthy of you.”

The Montgomerys have a huge family fortune, she added. Do we even care about the money she took?”

Sebastian’s arm shot out, not to embrace her, but to shove her away with such force that she landed on the floor with a

sharp cry.

The man’s roar echoed through the room: “Get out! You’re the one who tore us apart!”

“You seduced me-I never wanted to betray her!”

Chloe stared at him in disbelief, shouting angrily: “I seduced you? It was mutual from the start, she yelled Where was all

this regret when you were enjoying it!”

“She already has someone better, she sneered. Do you really think a few tears will make her come back? Wishtul

thinking!”

Her words pushed Sebastian over the edge. He grabbed her by the neck frantically, his eyes bloodshot.

“You bitch! You planned the kidnapping, he snarled. We never would have split up if it weren’t for this stunt!”

“You deserve to die”

Chloe struggled to breathe. A warm liquid gushed from between her legs-she’d miscarried.

Mr. Montgomery quickly ordered someone to pull him away, scolding him fiercely.

Sebastian couldn’t hear anything. All he knew was he had to find Lena-he couldn’t live without her.

He walked away without looking back, as Chloe screamed at the top of her lungs behind him:

“Come back! Sebastian, you can’t leave me! You heartless bastard!”

The plane landed in Paris.

In just half a month. I found my former mentor and resumed painting. Within two weeks, my works spread across Paris

and around the world-each one fetching a starting price of ten million dollars at auction.

I cut all ties with LA. The stories there no longer concerned me.

Six months later, I won the International Best Artist Award. The venue erupted in cheers-flowers, applause, and

spotlights all belonged to me.

Elias appeared in front of me, holding a bouquet of 999 roses, smiling with crinkled eyes:

“Congratulations, my great artist, he said.”

I raised an eyebrow and smiled faintly:

Thank you, the best husband in the world, I said. For traveling with me and supporting my dreams.”

When Elias and I first announced our engagement, many speculated I’d started a new relationship to forget the last one.

But that wasn’t the case.

If someone has been waiting for you all along-why not turn around?

Elias and I met in high school. He’d waited for me for years after we parted. After I moved to Paris, he even relocated his

family’s business here. No matter how busy he was, he was always there when I turned around.

I refused to trap myself in a failed relationship. What’s mine will always be better.

As we linked arms and walked out of the venue, I passed a familiar yet unfamiliar figure-just a fleeting encounter

I thought I saw his lips form words. An apology? A curse? It didn’t matter. The meaning was lost in the vast, happy noise

of my own life.

Years after gaining fame, I was asked about Sebastian in many interviews:

“Have you seen each other since you parted?”

‘I heard he’s penniless now-do you feel sorry for him?”

“Ms. Carter, did you know he’s dead? Stabbed by the woman who was once your third party.

To every question, I always replied calmly:

“I know. But it has nothing to do with me.”

After leaving LA, he’d begged relentlessly to see me in Paris. He’d tried every trick to apologize.

Later, his hair turned white, he grew thinner and weaker. He even drove Chloe insane. In the end, they met a mutually

destructive end-their so-called ‘eternal love” became a joke.

All of it was karmic retribution for a heartless man.

As for me? I never looked back. I walked forward, into the light, and did not once glance at the shadows lengthening

behind me. That girl, that love, that pain-they belong to another lifetime. My story was just beginning.
