My Husband Let Me Die for the Insurance Money Chapter 01

In my previous life, I was badly injured when a car suddenly swerved and hit me.

My husband, who was standing right beside me, didn’t help me call an ambulance.

Instead, he yelled at me for not paying attention while walking, saying it was my own fault and I had it coming.

After yelling, he turned to comfort the driver who caused the accident. ”Don’t worry. When the police arrive, just say she was trying to scam you, that you were scared and accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake.”

”Don’t worry, nothing’s going to happen as long as I’m here.”

Even as I was lying there, barely clinging to life, Liam Johnson still didn’t bother to call for help.

Right before I took my last breath, he leaned in and whispered in my ear, ”I’ll remember you. After all, you’ve given me a great gift. I’ve already planned how to use the million-dollar insurance payout.”

When I opened my eyes again, I was back, just a few days before the accident.

William Ward smiled as he put the signed insurance contract into his briefcase, and I reached out and stopped him.

”Is there any other issue, Mrs. Johnson?”

I looked at myself in the mirror, fully intact, and a strange heaviness settled in my chest. ”I just need to look at Liam’s insurance contract one more time.”

In my previous life, Liam said he wanted to help his friend out, so he bought an accident insurance policy for me. I didn’t think twice and readily agreed. I didn’t expect that just days after the policy became effective, I would end up in a serious car accident.

Liam didn’t call for an ambulance. Instead, he comforted the driver, telling them to stick to their story and claim I was trying to scam them.

He told the driver, “Don’t be afraid. Just stick to the story that she jumped in front of your car trying to scam you. You panicked and hit the gas instead of the brake.”

Only when a passerby noticed me, barely alive, did they call for help.

But even then, while I was being transported to the hospital, the ambulance was hit by another out-of-control vehicle on the Brooklyn Bridge. I was thrown from the back of the ambulance and fell into the river, and my body was never found.

”Mrs. Johnson, Liam’s policy coverage is higher than yours, and the beneficiary is you. Is there anything else you’d like to know?”

I snapped back to reality. ”I want to adjust the coverage amount.”

William looked uncomfortable, but Liam quickly interjected, ”William doesn’t have a backup contract with him, and once it’s altered, it won’t be valid.”

”Yeah, is there an issue with the coverage amount?”

I didn’t know in my previous life that this insurance would be my death sentence.

Since I was reborn, I needed to raise the coverage amount, and I decided to increase Liam’s coverage too.

Liam’s expression relaxed as soon as he heard me mention increasing the coverage.

”William, just do as my wife says.”

William looked at me, asking, ”How much do you want to increase the coverage? The higher the coverage, the higher the premium.”

I pretended to casually flip through the pages and closed the contract, saying, ”What good is five million? If I die quickly, then fine, but I’d rather not be left half-dead. This amount won’t even cover the medical expenses.”

Liam laughed as he heard me. ”Honey, you’re overthinking it. We bought insurance for peace of mind. Who would wish for a payout?”
