After I Learned I Was Going to Be His Ex-Wife Chapter 05

Ethan went back to the office in the afternoon for some reason.

I was going to ask if he’d be home for dinner. But the comments said he’d already left on a business trip with the female lead.

So I deleted the message.

I scrolled up and realized every message was from me.

[Babe, please come home. I’m scared of the dark…]

[I want steak tonight. Cook for me!]

[Guess which costume I’m wearing today?]

Ethan would reply with just one or two words.

Looking back, he’d probably been annoyed for a long time.

Sure enough, after a while, Ethan texted me.

[Out of town for a few days. I’ll bring you a gift.]

I replied with a thank you sticker.

While he was gone, I went through all the bags and jewelry he’d bought me.

There was quite a lot piled up. I could probably sell them for a good amount.

That made me feel a little better.

After marrying Ethan, I’d gone back to living a rich lifestyle. I’ve never been particularly driven, so I

quit my job almost immediately.

But my family’s bankruptcy had taught me to be careful. I didn’t have to hold a job, but I did need savings.

So I spent those years learning to invest in index funds and stocks. I’d made a good amount of

money.

Even if he left me with nothing, it would still be enough to live on for a long time.

The day Ethan’s trip ended, the comments went wild.

[Finally, the big moment when the leads fall in love!]

[The female lead sprains her ankle, and the male lead brings her home. The ex-wife throws a tantrum and burns through whatever goodwill he had left.]

[She’ll be gone soon. Can’t wait!]

A jolt of panic shot through me, and I hurried to move my things out.

Thankfully, I’d rented a place ahead of time. It wasn’t too much trouble.

Given how cooperative I was being, Ethan couldn’t be too cruel, could he?

That night, my phone buzzed with a message from Ethan.

[Where are you?]

Just three words, but they carried a strange weight.

I thought it over and replied.

[I’m traveling. I’ll be back in a couple of days. I need to talk to you about something.]

Ethan didn’t answer.

I sighed. Initiating the divorce was better than being kicked out.

I tossed my phone aside, put on my eye mask, and tried to sleep.

A few seconds later, the screen lit up again.

A notification popped up on my phone.

[I think my wife is cheating on me. She’s even giving my clothes to him. How do I convince her to come back?]
