Betrayed luna: daughter stolen by her mate Chapter 04
I hadn’t missed.
The part of him that produced testosterone was gone.
And the real damage? He could never have pups again.
Because he hadn’t gotten to a hospital fast enough, the delay made everything worse. Dante became the first Alpha in Silvermoon Pack history to lose his fertility.
He sank into a deep depression. He became a different person. Days passed in total silence. At night, I heard him crying in the bed next to mine.
He looked exactly like I did after losing Bella. Silent. Empty. Suffering alone.
Dante had no memory of the crash. The impact wiped that chunk of time clean.
The Moon Goddess was finally on my side.
Dante’s parents came to the hospital every day. His mother, Maria, wept at the sight of her son. She kept opening her mouth to curse me out, and every time, his father, Marcus, held her back.
After all, I’d saved Dante’s life.
I calmly recounted the accident for them. How I’d dragged myself out of the wreckage with all my injuries and pulled Dante back from the brink of death.
The car burned down to a metal skeleton. Some kind strangers passing by got us to the hospital.
As soon as I could move, I forced myself out of bed and stayed at Dante’s side.
I tended to him every day. I cheered him up. In his parents’ eyes, my devotion was something to envy.
I loved Dante enough to trade my life for his.
Even if Dante could never have pups again, I would never leave him.
Slowly, his spirits improved. When one was surrounded by love, it was hard not to heal.
Too bad my love was a lie.
He was discharged before me. Alpha constitution. Even with worse injuries, he bounced back faster than an Omega like me.
I, on the other hand, got infection after infection. Nearly died on the operating table more than once.
Dante camped outside the OR and prayed for me. When I finally woke up, he was crying.
“Layla, you can’t leave me. If something happens to you, I won’t want to live either.”
I didn’t think he was lying. In his current state, where else was he going to find someone who loved him this much?
I had over a dozen steel pins in my body. The heat wave from the explosion caused secondary injuries. Dante, meanwhile, had a broken leg and some scrapes.
Pack members flooded the hospital to see us. They all offered their sympathies. A few of the older elders went pale when they heard Dante could no longer have pups.
No heir. Silvermoon Pack had no future.
“Elder, Dante and I will be fine even if it’s just the two of us. I’m not leaving him over this.”
“That’s not the point. It’s the future of the pack. If Dante can’t have pups, the Silvermoon line ends with him.”
“Wait. Didn’t he have a pup before? The one he gave away? Just get her back. She’s a female pup, but she’s still Silvermoon blood.”
The elder who spoke said what everyone had been pretending didn’t happen.
Silence crashed down.
Dante’s face curdled like spoiled milk. He shoved his chair back and walked out.
Everyone traded loaded glances. Finally, the oldest elder spoke.
“We agree. Even a female pup carries the Silvermoon bloodline. Dante is the pack heir and currently unable to father another heir. Finding the Luna’s pup should be the top priority.”
He was talking to Maria. She hesitated for a long moment, then looked at Marcus. The desire was clearly there.
I watched their expressions and felt my lips curl upward.
My goal was in reach.
You all agreed to let Dante give my Bella to his precious first love.
Now I’d make you force him to bring her back to me.
