Divorce Papers in My Baby’s Gift Box? Fine—I Signed Them! Chapter 05

“Can you forgive me now?”

“I’ll forgive you if you bark like a dog.”

“Woof, woof…”

“Ryan, tell me. Am I better, or is that ugly woman you have at home better?”

“You’re a hundred times better than her…”

The moment the suggestive audio played from the phone, every guest in the room froze.

Clearly, everyone recognized the stars of the video: a pair of very close “buddies.”

“Maddie, you shameless disgrace. What the hell is this?”

The Cole and Whitmore families were both prominent names in their circle.

Now, in front of a room full of guests, everyone could clearly see a video of the Cole family’s daughter tangled up with a married man.

Mr. Cole Sr.’s face flushed with rage.

He raised his hand and slapped Maddie hard across the face.

“You classless disgrace! Is this how I raised you, to go out and humiliate this family in public?”

Maddie staggered back two steps, clutching her face, completely stunned.

“No… it’s not like that…”

Neither she nor Ryan had probably expected that I, the woman who had always swallowed every insult in silence, would not only refuse to come apologize but would also return their “joke” in this way.

Ryan instinctively assumed I was doing this out of malicious revenge.

“Mr. and Mrs. Cole Sr., please let me explain…”

“My wife did this to mess with us! The video was doctored! Nora, she… I’ll make her come apologize right now.”

As he spoke, he frantically dialed my number.

I didn’t answer.

Instead, I watched the scene coldly through a friend’s livestream.

How touching. Even at this point, his first instinct was still to protect Maddie.

Was I supposed to call that deep devotion?

“Nora, where are you? Did you send those videos?”

“Have you lost your mind? Are you only happy if you completely destroy Maddie and me?”

I didn’t react. I simply tapped my screen.

I sent out the high-definition photo Maddie had anonymously sent me that day.

Then, one by one, I mass-sent every video from the past year of Maddie using the excuse of being Ryan’s “buddy” while passing drinks mouth-to-mouth with him, sleeping with him, and grinding against him on dance floors.

I sent them to the phones of everyone present.

I sent them to the Whitmore and Cole family group chats and their friends-and-family circles.

I sent them to Ryan’s company Slack channel and Maddie’s work email.

Then I posted them across social media.

Didn’t she love jokes?

Then I would let everyone watch this disgusting affair between a cheating bastard and his shameless little side piece.

Ding, ding, ding.

Phone notifications rang through the restaurant all at once.

Everyone looked down at their screens, and one by one, they sucked in sharp breaths.

The elders of the Whitmore and Cole families nearly blacked out on the spot.

And Ryan’s so-called buddies finally couldn’t sit still anymore.

“Ryan, Maddie, what the hell is going on with you two?”

“Aren’t we supposed to be buddies? How long have you two been sneaking around behind our backs?”

“Fuck, wait. All that stuff Nora said… don’t tell me it was true.”

“You two have been sleeping together this whole time?”

Accusations rose one after another.

Some were jealous, some were disgusted, and others felt utterly betrayed.

After all, Maddie was always so good at pretending. She acted like everyone was her buddy.

Only now did they realize they might have been part of her and Ryan’s little game all along.

“No, it’s not like that. Please, listen to me.”

Maddie’s face went white.

She grabbed at their sleeves and tried to explain, but there was nothing she could say.

“You made a married man kneel and bark like a dog. What else is there to explain?”

The man took a step back and looked at her as if she were something filthy.

“Don’t touch me. You’re disgusting.”

The words hit Maddie like another slap across the face.

Her tears fell instantly, and she turned to Ryan.

“Ryan, say something!”
