I Picked Up a College Guy, Then My Mafia Ex Caught Me Chapter 08

Mr. Banks deflated at the sight of Dominic’s icy glare, but pride kept him going.

“You’re the father, huh? You should teach your kid some manners. Look what she did to my boy! And your wife’s got a mouth on her too. You let her walk all over you at home?”

“What my wife does is none of your concern,” Dominic said flatly.

Mr. Banks took his mild appearance for weakness and kept going. “I’m just trying to help you out. A woman needs discipline, or she’ll walk all over you. Next thing you know, she’s cheating—”

He had stepped right into a minefield. Before he could finish, Dominic grabbed him by the collar and dragged him into the supply closet. The muffled sounds of a beating came from inside.

I covered the kids’ ears.

When Dominic stepped back out, he was alone. He glanced at Ava, then shut the closet door behind him.

I stared at the storm of anger radiating off him. I hadn’t expected him to throw a punch, but then again, Dominic’s whole life had been a tragedy.

He had grown up a monster, shaped by a world that had shown him nothing but cruelty. Cross him, and you paid the price.

He brushed a crease from his jacket and crouched down in front of a trembling Tyler.

“You called Nathan a mute?”

“I-I didn’t mean to, sir…”

“Hmm.” He straightened the boy’s crooked name tag with deliberate care. “Next time, watch your mouth. Or you might end up the mute.”

The threat was unmistakable. Tyler went pale, tears spilling down his cheeks.

Dominic stood up and turned to the principal. “Mr. Patterson. Who should apologize first?”

The middle-aged principal was sweating. Before he could answer, Tyler blubbered, “Ava! Nathan! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I won’t do it again, I swear!”

As we walked out of school, Ava looked up at Dominic with stars in her eyes. “Mommy, can Mr. Blackwood come to all my parent-teacher conferences from now on?”

“…We’ll see.”
