I Picked Up a College Guy, Then My Mafia Ex Caught Me Chapter 11

We talked too long. The sun was setting when my phone buzzed.

Dominic, probably worried I hadn’t come home.

I answered. “Where are you?” His voice was cold.

“At the amusement park with the kids.”

“Having fun?”

“Absolutely.”

“I can see that.” His tone dropped another degree.

I froze. “Look outside.”

I turned my head. Across the street, his familiar Bentley sat idling. The back window rolled down, and Dominic stared at me, expressionless.

Our eyes met across the street, and my stomach dropped.

“I don’t want a scene in front of the kids. Come over here, now. Or I can’t promise what happens next.” He hung up.

Jake noticed my expression. “What’s wrong?”

I shook my head. “It’s late. I should take them home.”

We said goodbye at the door. He grabbed my arm, concerned. “If you’re in trouble, I can help. Just say the word.”

A pair of cold eyes was burning into me from across the street. I pulled away. “Thanks, Jake. See you around.”

I took the kids and left.

The car was thick with tension. Dominic stared at his laptop like he wanted to punch a hole through it.

Ava tugged my sleeve. “Mommy, I didn’t say bye to Uncle Jake. When can I see him again?”

I was still fumbling for an answer when Dominic slammed the laptop shut. He forced a smile onto his face for Ava. “That’s the uncle you were talking about? Is he your father?”

“Mommy said my dad died a long time ago.”

Ava picked up on the hostility and pressed herself against me.

Dominic took a breath. Held it. Failed.

He shot me a freezing glare. “Ella Morrison. You’ve got some nerve. How much did you love this guy that you’d stay loyal to a dead man?”

It wasn’t love. It was fear.

I ignored him and murmured to Ava, telling her to do her homework when we got home.

Back at the estate, Dominic pulled me into the bedroom, fuming.

He pressed me into the couch. I struggled, he pinned me between his legs, his face inches from mine.

“How many other men are you hiding from me?”

“If I told you, would you let me go?”

“Don’t you dare!”

His eyes burned with dangerous possession.
