I Saw The Comments Calling Me Evil And Realized I Was Pregnant Chapter 02
I barely slept a wink all night.
Nash, however, fell asleep with his breathing steady and one arm naturally draped over my waist.
Even after I rejected him, he still protected me out of sheer habit.
Just as dawn broke, he got out of bed very quietly.
I pretended to be asleep, peeking at him through narrowed eyes.
He tiptoed to the kitchen to make breakfast.
Then he quickly ate his portion, leaving mine in the oven to stay warm.
Walking over to the door, he turned back, leaning down to give my forehead a very gentle kiss.
A few minutes after the door clicked shut, I scrambled out of bed.
Skipping breakfast entirely, I put on a mask and rushed to the pharmacy to buy two pregnancy tests from different brands.
Back home, I bolted into the bathroom, my hands shaking so hard I could barely open the packaging.
Those few minutes of waiting felt like the longest of my life.
Two lines.
Both tests showed two lines.
I sat on the toilet, my legs too weak to even stand up.
I really was pregnant.
Everything the comments said was true.
[See? I told you she’s pregnant!]
[The FL Lilith is arriving very soon.]
[The villainess’s good days are over. Once the ML gets his memory back, she’ll be the first one he kicks to the curb. Serves her right for lying to him for so long.]
I suddenly remembered the first time I met Nash.
He had been rushed to the hospital after an accident at the construction site, the back of his head covered in blood.
But that face, that aura-it was obvious he wasn’t an ordinary person.
I was bewitched. I said to him when he woke up, “I covered your fifty thousand in medical bills. I’m your savior.”
I thought he would be incredibly grateful and reward me with hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars.
But he just said, in that honest, simple way of his, “Thank you, but I’m just a laborer at the construction site… I’ll work hard to pay you back.”
I was completely dumbfounded at the time.
But his face was just too handsome, and he was obedient to me in every way. As time went on, we got together.
Later, I quit my job as a nurse and let him support me.
I thought he was worthless, cursed him out every day, made him do this and that, and told him to ‘get out’ at the drop of a hat.
He never once got angry with me.
Thinking about it now, I treated him so terribly, yet how could he still be so good to me?
I covered my face, unable to even make a sound as I cried.
[Crying now? Should’ve thought about that sooner.]
[The villainess is kind of pitiful, but that’s what happens when you let vanity get to your head. The reckoning is coming.]
I stepped out of the bathroom, washed my face, and stared at my red, swollen eyes in the mirror.
No. I couldn’t just stand by and let things happen to me.
The comments said I would use the baby to throw tantrums and refuse to let go, so I wouldn’t throw tantrums, and I wouldn’t refuse to let go.
I had to find a way to survive and protect my baby.
But… once Nash regained his memories, would he still be good to me, the person who lied to him?
I sat on the edge of the bed in a daze, suddenly recalling the awful things I used to say to him.
“You’re just a loser,” “I was blind to ever choose you,” “You’ll never afford a house in your entire life.”
He never said a word at the time, just worked harder at the site and ran more deliveries.
I clutched my chest, an intense ache throbbing within it.
In the afternoon, I forced myself to go out and buy groceries, wanting to learn how to cook.
Before this, Nash always did the cooking when he came home, while I never even stepped into the kitchen.
After messing around for two hours, I managed to throw together a vegetable salad, though I put a bit too much dressing on it. Then, I sliced up some bread and fried two eggs. It barely counted as dinner.
When Nash came home that night, he froze completely upon seeing the apartment tidied up, with the bread and the plate of absolute disaster sitting on the table.
“You… made this?” His voice was tight.
I kept my head down, “Yeah, give it a try.”
He picked up his cutlery, took a bite of the salad, and swallowed them without changing his expression, “It’s good.”
A wave of emotion hit me, and tears almost spilled over.
He set his cutlery down, frowning as he looked at my hands, “Don’t cook anymore. Just wait for me to come back and do it.”
I shook my head vigorously, “I can’t let you do everything… you’re already so exhausted from the site.”
Nash went silent for a few seconds, suddenly grabbing my hand, “What’s wrong with you?”
[Nash, don’t touch her!]
[This villainess suddenly got smart or something? Putting on such an act now?]
[Even so, it doesn’t change the fact that she lied to the ML. Once he gets his memory back, he’ll definitely make her pay!]
Terrified, I yanked my hand back, “Nothing, it’s nothing.”
He stared at me, his eyes filled with heartache, confusion, and another emotion I couldn’t quite identify.
I sat there in sheer discomfort, terrified that he would see right through me.
