Secret Love Ended Before His Wedding Chapter 10

Nolan left.

But he didn’t go home.

Brielle called me, crying.

“Sienna, I lost to you again. Are you happy now?”

I didn’t understand what she meant.

Then I heard her continue.

“Ever since we were kids, you were the golden girl everyone compared their daughters to. Pretty, smart,

perfect. Every time I stood next to you, I felt like a dull foil to your flawless bloom. No one ever noticed me. Nolan only ever had eyes for you.”

“Every time you told me you liked him, I wanted so badly to tell you that I liked him too.”

“But I knew that even if I said it, you wouldn’t just hand him over.”

“I finally found a reason to get close to him. I finally got what I wanted and stood beside him. So many

people like you. Why did you have to fight me over Nolan?”

“The day you came back, I thought I could finally beat you once at the wedding. But the moment you

returned, Nolan’s eyes went right back to you. Do you have any idea how scared I’ve been these past few

days?”

She cried like she was shattering into pieces.

Every word was soaked in resentment.

But was any of this really my fault?

“Brielle, everyone has the right to chase happiness. I never stopped any girl from getting close to Nolan.

Whoever Nolan chose was his choice.”

“When we were little, you once asked me what I would do if we both liked the same person. Whether I would choose him or you. I gave you my answer back then.”

I had said I would choose her.

I had always believed that a true friend was rare in this life.

So I had valued friendship more than love.

But she hadn’t believed me.

In the end, she became the blade that cut me the deepest.

“Brielle, the day I came home and you handed me those wedding favors, I imagined they were yours to give

me as your friend. I imagined being your only bridesmaid, just like we promised when we were kids.”

“I even wondered whether I would sob uncontrollably at your wedding.”

I had thought about all of that.

The only thing I had never imagined was this.

That I would still be her only bridesmaid.

But I would be standing beside her while she married my boyfriend.

After hearing what I said, Brielle’s crying turned even more desolate.

“Brielle, let’s end it here. From now on… let’s just be strangers.”

I hung up and blocked her contact.

The next morning, I had just woken up when I heard Mrs. Mercer complaining to my mother about Nolan

suddenly wanting a divorce.

My mother listened quietly, her face completely expressionless.

Only after Mrs. Mercer finished did my mother say, slow and calm, “That sounds good. Better than letting

him ruin someone else’s life.”

Mrs. Mercer looked confused, utterly failing to understand what my mother meant.

My mother didn’t explain.

But Nolan confessed.

Mrs. Mercer was about to go home, and the moment she opened our front door, the sharp sound of a slap

rang through the hallway.

Mr. Mercer’s furious voice followed.

“Have you lost your mind? You and Brielle just got married, and now you’re telling me you love Sienna and

want to be with her? What do you take Brielle for? What do you take Sienna for?”

A clear handprint marked Nolan’s face.

He told them everything about pretending to help Brielle.

Then he said, “The person I’ve loved has always been Sienna. The person I wanted to marry was her. I…”

“Nolan.”

I spoke, cutting him off.

“I have a boyfriend.”

He looked at me and smiled.

“So what if you have a boyfriend? Married people can get divorced. You’re not even married.”

“And I don’t believe you could forget all the years we spent together that quickly.”

After Mrs. Mercer heard that, shock filled her eyes.

“Sienna, did you… did you two really date?”

A faint smile appeared in Nolan’s eyes.

He was certain I would tell the truth.

But I slowly opened my mouth.

“No.”

“Never.”

The smile froze on his face, and panic flashed through his eyes.

“Sienna, what are you talking about? We were together for five years.”

“Do you have proof?”

When we were together, I was the one who loved taking pictures and saving memories.

Nolan had insisted on keeping us a secret, never leaving a single trace of our relationship where the world

could see it.

He had never left a single trace of our love where the world could see it.

And the proof I had kept was deleted clean the day he told me he was marrying someone else.

“The photos you took, our messages, they can prove it…”

“Nolan, we were friends. Friends take pictures together when they go places. If that harmless memory made you delusional, I can scrub them from existence right now.”

His body trembled hard, and despair nearly spilled out of his eyes.

His voice choked as he asked, “Just because I helped Brielle, you’re cutting me off completely?”

Even now, he still didn’t know what he had done wrong.

“Nolan, now that you’re married, live your life properly. The whole neighborhood knows you two got married yesterday. Filing for divorce now won’t be good for either of you.”

“I don’t love her…”

My hand paused on the door.

For the last time, I gave him one final reminder.

“That was your choice.”

He had been the one to let go of our relationship first.

Regretting it now meant nothing.
