She Stole My Pain, So I Took Her to Antarctica Chapter 09

Logan never expected me to ignore him for so long.

Hadn’t I already forgiven him?

Every day, he waited outside my apartment building. Not once did he see me come out.

In the end, he finally ran into me outside the company building.

I was surrounded by a group of senior executives. The company president spoke to me with a polite smile, his attitude careful and respectful.

Logan’s dark pupils trembled.

He ran toward me, clearly ready to question me, but his expression softened almost instantly.

“Erin, why have you been hiding from me?”

“I miss you. Can I move back in with you?”

I rolled my eyes, covered my nose, and backed several steps away.

As if he were contagious.

“You…”

Logan clutched his chest, so angry his face turned red.

The company president stepped directly in front of me and said coldly, “Get out. You’re harassing the person who controls this company. Do you want to make sure no one ever hires you again?”

“You control this company?”

Logan stared at me in disbelief. His mouth opened and shut, but no sound came out.

He wanted to come over and take my hand.

Before he could get close, my bodyguards restrained him before he could move another inch.

I walked up to him and left him with one last sentence.

“You still haven’t found the surprise I left you? Check your bank accounts.”

After that, I turned and left.

From then on, I would stay far away from anyone who tried to drag me into hell.

A new life was waiting for me.

After the bodyguards released Logan, he opened his banking app with a frown.

In an instant, his face drained of color.

He gripped his phone tightly and stared at the screen for a long time.

At last, he had to accept that he was not mistaken.

All of his bank account balances had turned to zero.

Not only that, but when he opened his digital wallet accounts, every balance there had also become zero.

Terrified, he called the bank’s customer service.

Every representative told him the same thing. There had been no transfer records. His balances had been zero from the start.

Trembling, he called the police.

The officers said there was no sign that he had been hacked or robbed.

He refused to believe it.

Again and again, he went back to the bank to make a scene. He shouted in the lobby that the bank had stolen his money.

In the end, the bank called the police. He was detained for half a month for disorderly conduct.

After he got out, Logan was close to breaking.

What terrified him even more was that any money the Reeds transferred to him vanished from his balance the very next second.

The Reeds did not believe it at first.

But after seeing it happen with their own eyes, they had no choice.

Just as the three of them were trapped in panic and confusion, Vivian returned home after completing her hospital treatment.

Logan’s eyes darkened.

“Where did you get the money?”

Vivian’s love for Logan had vanished the moment he stood by and watched her suffer.

She deliberately provoked him.

“Logan, you gave it to me.”

Her face was bright with vindictive delight.

By then, Vivian had run out of options. She had never expected me to offer her a way out.

I had used the system to bind her finances to Logan’s income.

From then on, every dollar Logan earned would flow to her.

Her voice was bright with spite.

“Logan, since you don’t love me, spend the rest of your life making money for me.”

The moment she finished speaking, a sharp pain tore through her abdomen.

She looked down.

Logan had driven a knife into her.

“Die, you monster!”

Logan screamed, completely breaking down.

All the rage he had swallowed over the past few days exploded in that moment.

……

When I learned that Logan had killed Vivian and been sentenced to life in prison, I only scrolled past the news article on my phone.

The system’s mechanical voice sounded in my mind.

“Destruction countdown initiated. Three. Two. One. System destroyed.”

The corner of my mouth lifted before I could stop it.

I thought:

The world had rules of its own.

It had never needed a so-called system to decide anyone’s fate.
