They Turned Me Into a Criminal in My First Life—This Time I Fight Back Chapter 02

My accusation visibly rattled Ethan.

“What the hell are you talking about?” he snapped. “The police are literally here and you’re still refusing to admit what you did?”

I was locked up at the station.

A week later, my trial began.

I kept insisting I was innocent.

I begged for an appeal over and over again.

But the police produced what they called the key evidence in the case.

“The dashcam footage clearly records Vivienne Rhodes committing the murders.”

The courtroom screen lit up.

And there I was.

My face twisted with rage.

My eyes cold and vicious.

I could even hear myself screaming:

“If anyone tries to take this baby from me, they can die!”

Then the car accelerated.

The young couple chasing after the vehicle collapsed instantly as the car slammed into them.

Blood splattered across the windshield.

But it didn’t stop there.

The car reversed.

Then drove over their bodies repeatedly.

Again.

Again.

Again.

By the end, their bodies barely looked human anymore.

Only then did the woman in the video finally drive away.

And the worst part?

Every fingerprint inside that vehicle belonged to me.

The case was so horrific that the judge sentenced me to death immediately.

Even until the moment I died, I still couldn’t understand one thing.

Why was the woman in that video wearing my face?

After my death, Ethan publicly announced he would adopt the kidnapped baby.

“Vivienne made unforgivable mistakes,” he told the media solemnly. “So I’ll spend the rest of my life making up for them.”

Meanwhile, my parents collapsed under the public hatred and endless harassment.

But Ethan?

He became a hero online.

Maybe even God thought I’d died too unfairly.

Because somehow, I was given a second chance.

And this time…

I was going to survive.

I was going to uncover the truth.

After arriving at the airport, I quickly met up with my boss, Killian Thorne.

During the flight, we went over contract details and discussed the upcoming partnership deal.

That evening, we met with the client for dinner before checking into the same luxury hotel.

Early the next morning, I suddenly received a call from the police.

A tiny part of me still held onto hope.

This time, I wasn’t even in town.

Surely they couldn’t pin the murders on me again.

But I was wrong.

The police still took me into custody.

And before we even reached the station, a furious crowd rushed toward us.

Every single person looked ready to tear me apart.

Some carried signs.

Others held bottles, sticks, or anything they could use as weapons.

“It’s her! She murdered Gary Vance and his wife!”

“Where’s the baby?! Give the child back!”

The officers hurried to shield me while trying to calm the crowd.

But there were too many people.

Some protesters were already screaming directly into cameras.

“If the police don’t execute her immediately, they’re protecting a monster!”

“She turned Gary and his wife into roadkill!”

“Why is someone this dangerous still alive?!”

“Death is too merciful for her!”

Their outrage crashed down on the officers like a tidal wave.

That was when I finally realized something was terribly wrong.

“I didn’t kill anyone!” I shouted.

At first, I thought the police had only contacted me for questioning.

But clearly, this was far worse than that.

The moment I denied it, several people spat in my direction.

“Stop pretending!”

“Give us the baby!”

“Murderer!”

“You deserve to die a hundred times over!”

My scalp prickled with fear as the crowd pressed closer.

“How are you people so sure it was me?” I yelled desperately. “I didn’t kill anybody!”

One of the officers stared at me coldly.

Then he pulled out his phone and opened the dashcam footage.

I looked at the screen.

And instantly felt every drop of blood drain from my body.

The officer’s voice turned icy.

“See for yourself.”

“That’s your face, isn’t it?”

“You still want to claim you didn’t do this?”

My entire body trembled.

“How… how is this possible?”
