I didn’t attend the later hearings. My lawyers handled everything on my behalf.

The first ruling determined ownership of my personal assets.

With that money, I invested in a tech company in New York City. The company quickly gained momentum and started doing extremely well.

Not long after that, anonymous packages began arriving. Each one was beautifully wrapped.

Eventually, I realized the gifts were coming from two different addresses.

Some were sent by members of the Calloway family, and the rest were sent by Caspian.

Inside the boxes were limited-edition items collected from all over the world. They were the kind of things that even wealthy people couldn’t easily buy. Whoever purchased them must have called in many favors just to secure them.

That kind of apology felt disgusting.

Once love and kinship started being measured in money, the sentiment behind them became completely meaningless.

I donated everything to charity and listed their names as the donors.

When the charity’s thank-you letters reached them, Caspian finally couldn’t stay quiet anymore.

One evening after work, I stepped into the parking lot and froze.

Under the bright lights, Caspian stood there, looking noticeably thinner than the last time I saw him.

“Why did you donate those gifts and still put my name on them?” he asked.

I shrugged.

“They were yours to begin with. I had no use for them, so I donated them. Putting your name as the donor seemed reasonable.”

Clearly, that wasn’t the answer he was hoping for.

Caspian stepped closer, and his attitude was noticeably softer than before.

“Josie, can we stop fighting? This was all my fault. I already broke things off with Sabrina. We’ll never see each other again. She’s already had the baby aborted. Can you give me another chance so we can try again?”

“Try again?” I mused.

It was an interesting choice of words.

I lifted my eyes and looked at him coldly, the calm in my gaze slowly giving way to anger.

“Caspian, how did I never realize before that you’re such a repulsive

person? What you and Sabrina did was your business, but she was practically about to give birth, and you still forced her to abort your own child?

“After everything you’ve done to hurt me, how do you still have the nerve to show up in front of me and ask me to start over with you?”

Caspian’s face turned pale.

He didn’t speak for a long moment, yet the emotions in his eyes grew more intense with every passing second.

“I thought you would never leave me.

“Because of that, I ignored how I actually felt about you. I just wanted to-”

“Wanted to what?”

A voice suddenly echoed from behind me, cutting him off.
