Used, Betrayed, Gone Chapter 12 (Continue)
Caspian survived.
However, he lost the ability to have children and might never be able to have sex again.
When the Collins family heard the news, the entire family was in an uproar. Their first reaction wasn’t to comfort him. Instead, they immediately held a press conference announcing that the heir would be replaced.
Caspian had officially been abandoned.
During that time, Dad and Jeremiah came to see me.
Because of the earlier scandal, the Calloway Group had lost clients across the board and fallen into the worst financial crisis in its history.
The company’s cash flow collapsed, massive debts piled up, and bankruptcy was almost inevitable.
Dad forced a flattering smile and pleaded with me, “Josie, I know I made mistakes in the past, but you’re still my daughter. You and Mr. Fraser are so close now. Could you ask him to help us?”
Jeremiah chimed in desperately, “Josie, we’re siblings. Blood ties don’t just disappear. You can’t just watch as we fall into ruin. Please help us. Help the company, too. You have a share in the Calloway Group as
well.”
I looked at the two shameless men standing in front of me, amused.
“I’d rather you were dead, so why would I help you?
“The outcome of our lawsuit hasn’t even been decided yet. None of you has paid the price for what you did to me.”
When he heard this, Dad’s expression changed instantly. He raised his hand as if he wanted to slap me.
Before he could move, Preston kicked him so hard that he flew backward and collapsed onto the ground, clutching his stomach and howling in pain.
Jeremiah panicked and ran away without even looking back.
Watching the father and son who cared about nothing but profit, I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness.
Preston noticed the look on my face. He stepped up behind me, wrapped his arms around me, and said softly, “Don’t be upset. You still have me. From now on, I’ll make up for everything you lost.”
The verdict was announced soon after.
Both the Collins family and the Calloway family were found guilty of illegally detaining me and intentionally causing harm. Each of them received three-year prison sentences.
The Calloway Group officially declared bankruptcy, and the money recovered from the liquidation of its assets was used as compensation for me.
Overnight, I became genuinely wealthy.
I used the money to acquire more shares in the tech company I had invested in and officially became its chairman.
On the day the company went public, Preston proposed to me.
During the wedding reception, I received news that Caspian had taken his own life.
I simply nodded and said, “Got it.” Then, I turned and walked toward
my groom.
At last, the long winter was over, and spring had finally arrived.
