Why the Mafia’s Wife Kills Chapter 05

Lucius walked in.

He wore a deep blue suit, sharp and commanding.

He turned every head the second he stepped inside.

The Morretti family had grown powerful overseas in recent years.

Everyone knew Lucius was the new Don.

“Lucius?”

Someone recognized him at once.

Lucius smiled at me, then turned to Dante.

“Mr. Lombardi. Long time no see.”

Dante’s eyes flicked between Lucius and me.

His face turned uglier.

“You two know each other?”

“Old high school friends.”

Lucius spoke casually, stepping naturally to my side.

“Heard there was a birthday party.

Hope you don’t mind I crashed.”

“Of course not.”

Dante practically bit the words out.

Lucius’s arrival threw everything off.

He greeted old acquaintances smoothly.

But I noticed his men quietly spreading out around the room.

“What are you doing here?” I whispered.

“Backing you up.”

Lucius leaned down, voice only for me.

“Also, watching the show.”

Dante stared at how close we stood.

His gaze turned murderous.

Freya tugged his sleeve softly, voice shaking.

“Dante, let’s cut the cake. Don’t keep the guests waiting.”

The moment broke the tension.

Dante took a deep breath.

He led Freya to the three-tier cake.

The emcee started speaking.

Candles were lit. The lights dimmed.

Everyone sang happy birthday.

I stood in the shadows, watching.

It was ridiculous.

This was the man I’d loved for three years.

Celebrating another girl right in front of me.

The song ended.

Freya closed her eyes and made a wish.

Candlelight lit up her face.

Young. Innocent-looking.

“What’d you wish for?” Dante asked softly.

“To be loved by Dante forever.” Freya whispered, then blew out the candles.

Lights blazed back on.

Applause erupted.

That’s when I pulled out my phone and called a number.

“Start now.”

The ballroom doors burst open.

A dozen men in work uniforms stormed in.

They carried sledgehammers and crowbars.

Everyone froze. Even Dante didn’t react at first.

“Smash it.” I said.

The workers went to work.

They shattered the champagne tower.

Flipped the long dining tables.

Smashed the three-tier cake to pieces.

Frosting and pastries flew everywhere.

Chaos exploded in the ballroom.

Dante’s face turned completely black.

“Simone! Are you CRAZY?!”

I ignored him and shouted at the workers.

“Keep going! Destroy EVERYTHING!”

“STOP!”

Dante lunged to grab my arm.

Lucius stepped in front of me, blocking him.

“Dante.”

Lucius’s voice was low, but everyone heard it.

“Hitting a woman? Not a good look for a Don.”

Dante’s guards moved forward.

They were stopped by Lucius’s men.

The two groups stood face-to-face.

The air was thick with tension.

Freya hid behind Dante, clutching his sleeve, voice trembling.

“Dante… my party…”

Dante held her tight.

His eyes burned into me.

“Simone, do you understand what you’ve done?”

“I do.” I walked up to him, chin up.

“It’s just money.

We’ll pay for it with our joint assets.

I don’t care.”

“You-” Dante’s fists clenched.

“What?” I smiled.

“You wanna strangle me right now, don’t you?”

People held up phones, filming everything.

Dante glanced at them and forced his rage down.

“We’re talking about this at home.” He lowered his voice.

“Home?”

I laughed harder.

“That’s your home. Not mine. The second you brought that girl inside, it stopped being mine.”
