Erasing Alpha’s Memories and Love Chapter 06 (Continue)
The voice wasn’t loud, but it cut straight through my ears.
Anger bubbled in me—why should Nathan decide my fate?
The rogue muttered a brief “okay” and hung up.
He stepped closer, knife in hand.
“You heard that. This man isn’t saving you.”
I nodded, whimpering, signaling him to remove the cloth from my mouth.
He complied, pulling it away, then pressed the knife against my neck.
“Any last words?” he asked.
Our eyes locked, and I launched into hypnosis.
Luckily, after being out cold all night yesterday, I had recovered. Hypnotizing the rogue took almost no effort.
I didn’t know how long it would last, so I wasted no time issuing commands.
“Untie me.”
Like a puppet, he obeyed, loosening the ropes around me.
Without a second to spare, I bolted.
The apartment building was abandoned. I had no sense of direction—just running, never looking back, terrified he might catch me.
Finally, I saw the main road.
Cars passing by gave me some comfort.
I waved frantically at one, and finally… I was rescued.
At the police station, I spotted Ryan, eyes bloodshot.
He grabbed me in a tight embrace, holding me as if letting go would mean death.
“As long as you’re alive… that’s all that matters. If anything happened to you… I couldn’t live either.”
His sobs rang painfully clear in my ears.
I patted his back, trying to calm him. “It’s fine, it’s fine. You forgot— I can hypnotize. I don’t die that easily.”
“If anything had happened, I’d have killed Nathan first… then myself.”
Just hearing Nathan’s name made my stomach turn. “Don’t even mention him.”
Ryan nodded. “Fine. No more talk of him.”
While giving my statement, I told the police everything I knew—including how Kate had planned Paige’s murder three years ago.
After the statement, Ryan stayed with me at the hospital for treatment.
As we arrived, a rescue ambulance pulled up outside.
Police, doctors… and Nathan stepped out, pushing a stretcher.
Kate lay on it, her legs soaked in blood, twisted beyond belief.
I asked the police what happened.
They explained: when they arrived, Kate had jumped from a moving car in a fit of panic. Her legs had been crushed—likely beyond saving.
“Serves her right,” Ryan muttered, unable to hide his thoughts.
I said nothing. Kate got what she deserved.
Kate was rushed into surgery while I went to get an IV.
Tomorrow I was flying to Paris. My body was in no condition to travel.
“Want to skip Paris tomorrow?” Ryan asked.
I shook my head. “No way. I’m a top-rated hypnotist—my reputation can’t take a hit.”
Ryan sighed. “Fine. I’ll go with you… at least I can look out for you.”
“Alright then.”
“Scarlet…”
We turned to see Nathan, who looked haggard.
I averted my gaze. One of the reasons I liked Nathan had been his looks—but now… ugliness made him repulsive.
He stepped forward obliviously.
“Scarlet… are you okay? Hurt anywhere?”
I sneered. “Save the act. You said on the call you’d save Kate and have the rogue kill me. Now you’re here, all fake concern. Nathan, you’re despicable.”
Nathan’s face twisted in anguish. “Scarlet… I chose to save Kate because I owed her. And if you’d died, I wouldn’t have survived alone. I would have died with you.”
I slapped him with my free hand, the one not hooked to the IV. “I’m not dying with you. I want to live. You’re a self-absorbed, delusional bastard. Get out of my sight—now.”
“Scarlet…”
He tried to speak, but I cut him off sharply.
“Don’t call my name. You don’t deserve it. If you get nothing better to do, go ask the police about the case—see how I was kidnapped, who did it, and what really happened to your Paige three years ago.”
Nathan hesitated, then muttered only, “Rest well,” before leaving.
Not long after, the police reported: the rogue had been caught.
