They Bullied The CEO’s Daughter Without Knowing Who I Was Chapter 07

She was about to head toward the break room. My heart pounded so hard I almost wet my pants.

But someone called her name.

Nolan was holding my watch. “Where did you get this?”

Amber’s heart skipped.

She tried to snatch it.

Nolan held it higher. Stacy started to speak.

Amber cut her off. “It’s mine. My little sister’s.”

“Really?” Nolan studied her. “Are you sure? This is a pre-release limited edition from Caldwell Group.”

Amber lied on the spot. “A fake. I bought it because it looks nice. Please give it back, Mr. Chase.”

Nolan raised an eyebrow, half-convinced. Then he looked around.

“Speaking of which, isn’t my cousin Paige Bennett at the office today? Didn’t she come with my uncle?”

Hearing my cousin say that made me tear up.

I wanted to stand and scream, “I’m here!”

But seeing Amber’s vicious face, I was too scared to speak.

The name “Paige Caldwell” hit Amber like a brick. She remembered the school ID she found—Paige Bennett.

“Mr. Chase, your cousin?” Stacy, a seasoned pro, smelled trouble.

Nolan reconsidered. The Caldwells never exposed my identity to protect me.

So he improvised. “A distant relative. Her dad works here too.”

Amber relaxed.

So that woman was just a regular employee’s kid. No big deal. She’d pay some medical bills.

If the kid caused trouble, she’d threaten to get her dad fired.

“So have you seen her?”

Amber lied casually. “No. I think her mom already picked her up.”

Stacy blinked. What kid?

I wanted to run out screaming, “No! I’m here! No one picked me up!”

But Nolan didn’t push. He figured I got bored and went home with the driver and nanny.

He looked disappointed. “Haven’t seen her in a while…”

That little distraction made Nolan forget to press Amber about the email. She hurried to escort him downstairs.

As she passed the break room, she spotted me. Her gaze turned deadly.

I felt a chill. I just wanted to run.

Meanwhile, Graham tried to get to the CEO’s office but found his access revoked.

Amber’s doing, obviously.

He had to climb the stairs. The CEO’s office was on the forty-eighth floor. He was only on forty.

He prayed that I’d be okay, that he’d make it in time.

I hid in the break room, terrified Amber would burst in.

Click, click, click—high heels again. I curled into a ball.

Then a gentle hand cupped my face. I flinched back.

But she caught me.

“Paige, don’t be scared. It’s me.”

I opened my swollen eyes. Her tears fell first.
