They Bullied The CEO’s Daughter Without Knowing Who I Was Chapter 06
By now, my eyes wouldn’t stay open. I kept mumbling “Mom.”
Amber got mad and kicked me. “Stop faking. Or I’ll call the cops.”
The comments flipped. Multiple people confirmed I really was Vivienne Ashford’s daughter.
Meanwhile, Mom was doing a promotional livestream from her movie set.
Her fans rushed to her stream and told her what was happening.
Amber saw the comments turn on her and shut down the livestream.
She ripped off my watch and stomped on it.
Then she pointed in my face. “Don’t think people defending you online will save you. Once Mr. Caldwell’s meeting ends, you’re dead.”
My mouth was dry. “Water… I need water.”
Amber clicked her tongue. “You want water? Stay here and think about what you’ve done.”
A knock came from outside. Stacy was looking for her.
Amber hurried out and locked the supply closet from the outside. The already thin air got even thinner.
My watch lay in the corner, abandoned.
“Mom… Dad… I’m so hot…”
I reached out, but couldn’t see. The watch was dead. My last hope was gone.
Stacy was hosting Nolan in the conference room. Amber came in late, all fake smiles. “Sorry I’m late, Mr. Chase.”
Nolan twirled his cup, sounding accusatory. “Who didn’t reply to my email?”
Amber blamed everything on me. “A dishonest employee didn’t respond. I’ve dealt with her harshly. It won’t happen again.”
Nolan pressed. “So you read the email? Tell me your solution.”
Amber froze. She had no idea what Nolan’s email said.
She had deleted all the emails yesterday when she saw Mr. Caldwell’s dinner reservation—out of jealousy. Then she needed a scapegoat.
While she panicked, Stacy elbowed her. “Mr. Chase asked you a question.”
“I… that’s not my responsibility.” Amber’s excuse was weak.
Nolan raised an eyebrow. “Aren’t you the CEO’s secretary? I thought you handled his work email.”
He seemed nice, but he wasn’t stupid.
A conglomerate heir acted friendly only to seem approachable.
“So you’re covering things up?”
Amber bit her lip. “No. I was trying to protect that employee’s career. I didn’t want to ruin her life.”
“How thoughtful of you.” Nolan’s gaze turned sharp.
Stacy whispered, “Bring that woman here to explain to Mr. Chase, or no one can save you.”
Amber rushed to the supply closet, panicked that I might tell Nolan the truth.
She decided to intimidate me again. She still had those humiliating photos on her phone.
She opened the door.
Empty.
Amber panicked.
She’d been gone less than twenty minutes, and I had vanished.
She forced herself to stay calm and searched the office. But I was gone. Disappeared.
Just as I was about to pass out, the door opened from outside.
Graham, bruised and swollen, had found me.
He gasped. “Miss Caldwell! How did you get hurt like this?”
I barely moved my lips. “Graham… I want to go home.”
“I want my… mom.”
Mom and Dad would be worried if they couldn’t find me.
Graham helped me up, limping. He looked around nervously, afraid Amber would see us.
Hearing clicking high heels, he pulled me into the break room.
Then, while Amber frantically searched for me, Graham quietly called the cops.
He figured Amber ran the executive floor like a dictator. Even the security guard at the door might be on her payroll.
Taking me out now wasn’t safe.
“Miss Caldwell, hide here. I’ll find Mr. Caldwell and get you justice.”
I forced my eyes open. “Thank you, Graham.”
Graham put a mask on me and draped his suit jacket over me as camouflage.
I sat there breathing in small sips.
Amber’s voice echoed down the hall. “Where the hell did that woman go?”
Her friend said, “Maybe she already left the building?”
“Impossible. My uncle is on security today. Not even a fly gets out.”
Her heels clicked closer. I was terrified.
Thank God Uncle Graham had the sense not to take me out directly.
