He Lent Her My Cullinan, I Canceled His Family’s Cards Chapter 07
After Lindsay left, I sent a message to my assistant.
[Keep an eye on Lindsay. I want her every move tracked.]
Suddenly, Nicholas lunged toward me.
“Juliette, Lindsay said she’ll pay the money back herself—so does that mean we don’t have to get divorced?”
His eyes were red as he grabbed my arm.
“Just give me one more chance.”
“I’ll fire Lindsay, I’ll never see her again—I’ll only hire male assistants from now on.”
“I swear I’ll never cross the line again.”
“Please, Juliette. Just one chance.”
Tears streamed down his face.
Looking at him now, I felt no sympathy at all. Only disgust.
“Can you stop acting already?”
I pulled my arm away.
“The moment you chose Lindsay’s side after she wrecked three of my cars, I stopped seeing you as my husband.”
I looked at him coldly.
“Maybe you fell out of love a long time ago. Maybe you were after my money from day one.”
“It doesn’t matter anymore—we both got what we wanted out of this.”
He went still, staring at me in disbelief.
“Now come home with me and get your family out of my house.”
I took a step closer. “And let me make this clear—I won’t say this twice.”
“If you push me any further, your entire family will pay the price.”
Nicholas stared at me with wounded eyes.
“Juliette… did you ever love me?”
“I did.” My voice was calm. “But I don’t anymore.”
Silence filled the room.
Then I smiled faintly. “But I’d like to ask you something.”
“Did you think that just because we were married and I loved you, you could do whatever you wanted?”
“That my love meant I’d tolerate you crossing every line?”
“That as long as you said sorry, I’d forgive you and let you keep being my husband, enjoying everything that comes with my name?”
My gaze sharpened. “You really thought too highly of yourself.”
“I loved you when you knew your place.”
“And if you don’t, I can love someone else.”
Nicholas’s face went chalk white.
In that moment, he finally understood—I wasn’t throwing a tantrum, I wasn’t trying to scare him. I truly didn’t want him anymore.
Left with no choice, he picked up the pen and signed.
Nicholas and I returned home together.
The entire drive passed in silence.
The moment we stepped through the front door, Savannah rushed toward me.
“I’m giving you one last chance. Reactivate everyone’s cards right now, or I’ll tell Nicholas to dump you!”
I couldn’t help laughing. “You’ve got it backwards.”
I tossed the signed divorce papers onto the table in front of her.
“I’m the one dumping him.”
Her eyes widened as she stared at the signatures.
“See that? We’ve already signed the divorce papers.”
I pointed toward the door. “Your whole family—get out.”
Savannah froze. “What did you just say? You’re divorcing Nicholas?”
I ignored her completely.
I went upstairs and headed straight for my bedroom.
Once inside, I closed and locked the door.
Outside, Savannah screamed and pounded on the door.
I put on my headphones and blocked out every bit of the noise.
A while later, my assistant called. “Miss Ashford, the investigator sent over a recording. You need to hear this.”
I pressed play.
The recording was a conversation between Lindsay and her friend — Brooke Sinclair, by the sound of it.
“Lindsay, how are you gonna pay back? We could work our whole lives and never come up with that kind of money.”
“Relax.” Lindsay said casually. “I’ve already figured out a solution.”
“What solution?”
“The Phantom.” Her voice carried a hint of excitement.
“I’ll pretend to return it to Juliette. But first, I’ll tamper with the brakes.”
A chill ran through me as I listened.
“When she drives it home, that’ll be the end of her.”
Brooke gasped. “Are you serious?”
“Of course.” Lindsay laughed.
“Once Juliette is dead, Mr. Drake won’t have to get divorced.”
“He’ll inherit everything — legally. And once I marry him, everything she owns is mine.”
Brooke hesitated. “But how can you be sure she’ll be the one driving the car?”
“I’ve already thought of that.” Lindsay sounded smug.
“I’ll set up a meet somewhere impossible to park — she won’t drive there herself.”
“Then I’ll tell her I’m returning the car and take her to pick it up.”
“Once she’s there, she’ll have no choice but to drive it home.”
“Aren’t you afraid you’ll get caught?” Brooke asked.
Lindsay burst out laughing. “Even if they figure it out, she’ll already be dead.”
“By then, Mr. Drake will get me a letter of forgiveness, and I’ll walk away scot-free.”
