Erasing Alpha’s Memories and Love Chapter 04 (Continue)
I shoved him away. “Still here… but not for long.”
No sooner had I spoken than the nurse pushed the door open. “Bed 9, prep for surgery.”
A pang of bitterness hit me. I forced myself to answer. “Okay.”
I tried to walk past Nathan, heading toward the operating room.
But he slid to his knees in front of me, blocking my path.
His wet hand reached out toward my stomach.
Just thinking about that hand—possibly having rubbed Kate’s aching belly yesterday—made me nauseous.
Before he could touch me, I snapped, “Don’t touch me. You’re filthy.”
Nathan clenched his own hand so hard it bled.
He lifted his head, pleading, voice trembling. “I’m not filthy, Scarlet… I’m not filthy.”
Then, suddenly, he smiled—seriously—and asked, “Scarlet… if I die, will you keep the baby?”
He picked up a fruit knife from the table and pressed it to his neck.
My disgust surged. “Nathan, listen carefully. No matter what happens, I will never keep this child.”
I tried to sidestep him, to leave the room—but he blocked my way again.
“Scarlet, there’s nothing between Kate and me. Scarlet, trust me! Please… don’t be angry.”
I snapped, “I don’t care what’s happened between you two. Forget clearing up any misunderstanding—just get out!”
I glanced at Ryan, who then grabbed Nathan, giving me the chance to leave the room.
Behind me, Nathan cried and shouted, begging me not to go. But it was too late. It was over.
Even under anesthesia, I could feel the pain as the child was taken from my womb.
When the drugs wore off, the agony only intensified. I curled into a ball on the hospital bed, clutching myself, hoping to ease the pain.
At the bedside, Nathan knelt, holding a genetic test showing 99.9% compatibility.
He fussed over me, asking if I was cold or needed anything.
I just wanted silence. “Can you leave? You’re making too much noise. I need to rest.”
He nodded. “I’ll go. Scarlet… if you need anything, tell me. Let me have a chance to make amends.”
After he left, I bought a plane ticket to Paris for the day after tomorrow.
He wouldn’t get the chance to redeem himself.
I asked Ryan to go to the Pack House Nathan and I shared and pack my belongings.
Nathan had been too eager, insisting on helping me personally. They left together.
Finally, I had a moment of peace and fell into a deep sleep.
When I woke up, I was in a dilapidated house, bound to a chair.
A rogue sat on a tattered sofa nearby, drinking.
“Who are you? Where is this? Why am I tied up?”
The rogue stood, and I noticed Kate Tuner sitting beside him.
Before I could react, she slapped me across the face.
“Shut up! Scarlet Wren… you didn’t expect this, did you? Ending up in my hands.”
Kate’s slap was laced with insult as she patted my face.
“Sit still. Tomorrow, I’ll send you off… to join my sister.”
Tomorrow was Paige Tuner’s death anniversary. Tomorrow, I would die—a perfect tribute.
“Kate… aren’t you afraid of the police?”
She laughed, fearless. “My sister’s been dead for three years. The cops never found out I arranged the car crash. Don’t worry—I’ll do this cleanly. No traces left behind.”
Hearing the truth about Paige’s death made me shiver.
So the car crash wasn’t an accident at all—it was Kate’s doing.
I wondered how Nathan would react if he knew.
Facing the woman in front of me, driven to madness, I couldn’t help asking, “She was your own sister… how could you bring yourself to do this?”
Kate slapped me again, her emotions raw. “Anyone who tried to take Nathan from me must die. My sister… you… both of you.”
“Three years… why now, of all times, do you try to kill me?” I demanded.
“Because Alpha watches you closely. I had no chance before… now I do. You must die!”
Kate stood close, our eyes locked. I attempted hypnosis.
But I had just miscarried. My mind was too weak. I only managed a few seconds before it failed.
A flicker of doubt crossed Kate’s eyes.
Then she walked to the rogue.
“Proceed as planned,” she said.
The rogue tied Kate next to me, then shoved a cloth into my mouth—but left Kate’s mouth free.
He grabbed Kate’s phone and called Nathan.
The line connected and a rehearsed kidnapping story spilled out.
“Alpha Nathan… right? I have two hostages. Both are begging you to save them. Five million ransom. Who will you save?”
