I Played His Lover’s Husband Chapter 10

Aurora’s gaze swept over me from head to toe with open disgust.

Her pretty, delicate face was contorted with spite.

“So that’s why Dominic suddenly switched sides.”

“Estelle, are you seriously this disgusting?!”

I had almost forgotten. Dominic also had access to this place.

Suddenly, even the water felt disgusting.

Aurora’s voice grew sharper and more aggressive with every word.

“You knew Dominic was slipping away, so you hooked up with another man on purpose.”

“You wanted to force him to choose between forgiving you or walking away.”

“An old hag like you who can’t even get her own fiancé into bed-of course your lover had to be some gross

old man with a beer gut.”

“You think degrading yourself to win back a man is something to be proud of?!”

Before I could even get a word in, the viciousness on her face vanished.

In its place appeared genuine confusion and innocence that actually suited her age.

“…Rhett? Why are you here?”

Rhett walked over to stand in front of me.

He wore nothing but swim trunks-broad shoulders, long legs, abs carved sharp.

Red scratches and marks covered nearly every inch of exposed skin, the suggestive traces trailing down

beneath the waistband, hinting at what lay below.

Then he turned, his broad, solid back shielding me like a wall.

“Because I’m the lover you were just going on about.”

I nearly choked on my wine.

That was the first time I had ever seen such literal blankness on someone’s face.

Several seconds passed before Aurora finally managed to speak.

“…She forced you to stay with her, didn’t she?”

Rhett was as blunt as ever. “No. I’m the one who forced her. I like her.”

Aurora usually looked delicate and perfectly composed. This time, though, she froze for several seconds.

She kept brushing her hair back nervously before finally speaking.

“I chased after you for four years. Four years. I even slept with your friend just to marry you.”

“But the moment you confirmed you’d never touched me, you divorced me. Just like that.”

“I loved you that much, and you chose her? Over me?!”

“Do you even know that she only got close to you because…”

Her eyes went bloodshot.

Her lips quivered, and then she broke-a look of utter desperation taking over her face.

“Because I slept with her fiancé, she wanted revenge.”

“She thought we were still married, so she went after you on purpose.”

“She’s just using you! How could a scheming bitch like her possibly be worth your love?!”

Rhett stood with his back toward me, so I couldn’t see his expression.

Truth was, Aurora wasn’t wrong. Things between Rhett and me had started out ugly.

I thought I’d feel nothing. And yet, without even realizing it, my nails were digging into my palms.

Then Rhett’s steady voice rang out.

“That’s probably the only good thing you’ve ever done.”

Both Aurora and I froze.

Rhett sounded strangely calm.

“If you hadn’t pushed your way into this marriage and then become Dominic’s mistress, Estelle never

would’ve come back to me.”

He let out a relieved breath. “Good thing I had something she could use.”

I thought I had already shut those feelings down for good.

But suddenly, my heart started racing all over again.

Aurora finally broke down crying.

She had provoked me countless times. Seeing her like this should have felt satisfying. But somehow, it

wasn’t.

People who love someone that doesn’t love them back usually end up getting hurt the most.

That was when few slow claps rang out, utterly out of place.

It was Dominic.
